Ian Dunn - Operations Director

I joined Matters in 1999, following seven years in the security industry both in retail and trade sales. My first roles were as a locksmith but quickly trained in other security divisions, becoming the senior installations engineer for intruder, CCTV & access control systems.Following a period as Installations Manager, in 2007 I was invited to join the Matters Group board as Operations Director. This involves directing the installation & maintenance teams, overall responsibility for all company operations and compliance.

ResponsibilitiesDirecting the project and operations management teams.

LovesWalking our two dogs and spending as much free time as possible with family and friends. Music has also been a big factor in my life, my DJ skills have made me a legend in my own bath time!

Most Likely to be foundEnjoying a beer in a country pub after a walk, eating out and watching Arsenal at the Emirates.

Roland May – Signage Director

I’ve been in the sign-making industry since 1996, beginning my career as an apprentice before moving into management in 2002. Nine years later I joined forces with Matters and became part of the Matters Property Services Group.Recently I have been working with several Councils on regeneration projects in time for the Olympics, typical clients also include colleges, the NHS and numerous Housing Associations.

ResponsibilitiesManaging the signage division, business development and sales.

LovesObserving what makes signage really effective in the market place. Spending time with my family & supporting QPR.

Marcus Selleck - Electrical Manager

Having completed a recognised apprenticeship I gained valuable experience over the next 20 years within the electrical contracting industry, often taking on the contracts others say cannot be done.

Lewis O’Kelly – Commercial Manager

I progressed to the Matters Group in April 2010, following an initial career with well-established Electrical Engineering Company.With over ten years of experience within the property services industry, encompassing multiple roles ranging from financial control, to operational management and project delivery.My current projects include; Housing Associations, large scale IRS (integrated reception systems) installations and electrical refurbishment programmes.

ResponsibilitiesMonitoring major contract finances and the maintenance and upkeep of all internal quality management systems and processes.

Jo Hayday – Marketing Manager I joined the Matters Group in 2011 bringing with me over 10 years of marketing and communication experience since graduating from Brunel University in 1999. I have always had an active interest in Marketing since I can remember and relish in the latest developments.I gained valuable experience across various industries including working for Highlife Marketing in the travel industry, Kodak and Skanska.Recently I have been managing the Matters Property Services Group re-brand and corporate identity together with focussing on our client relationship processes.

ResponsibilitiesOverall Marketing & Branding.

LovesKeeping fit ‘boot-camp’ style and entertaining family & friends. I am very interested in photography and sewing but have yet to master my camera and my sewing machine!

Ian Smith – Consultant Bid Manager With over 30 years of experience in general business management including facilities services, my speciality is winning major contracts through the tendering process and I have been working with the Matters Group to handle pre-qualification and tender submissions to help grow the business.My Experience includes major facilities contracts with BP, WS Atkins, the Department of Health, Diageo, Eli Lilly and conducting key procurement exercises for Marks & Spencer, Lazards and European Medicines Agency.

ResponsibilitiesResearching tender opportunities, maintaining the bid library, submitting PQQs to get the Matters Group on tender shortlists and writing compelling tender submissions to win valuable contracts.

LovesPhotography, especially digging out embarrassing old photos from the archives and a wide range of classical and passé rock music (70s mostly)

Most likely to be foundWorking funny hours on bids, travelling around the country (trains preferred), by the seaside or at heritage transport museums like STEAM at Swindon.

Michael Baines – Finance Director I started working as a consultant and external accountant with Matters Group in 1999 and since then as the company has grown have had more and more involvement.Since joining the Matters Group in a more formal role in 2012 when I moved my practice into Matters Group head office in Amersham I have taken on board the responsibility for overall financial management and strategy.

Peter Browes – Project Manager

I have brought to the Matters Group over twenty years of experience in installation & servicing of security systems, and engineering/project management.I am currently working on projects for various housing associations and private clients.

Aaron Nash – Service Manager I joined Matters in 2010, from a background in project co-ordination and have since been working on Security & Satellite TV works for councils and housing associations across London.Recently, due to the expansion of Matters Group service department I have moved across to become service manager and implemented new management systems to streamline the increased workload.

ResponsibilitiesManagement of the Service Department.

LovesBeing with my family, eating good food in great restaurants or listening to what I would call decent music.

Most likely to be foundIn the kitchen at home practicing my ‘cheffing’ skills or at food or music festivals with friends.

Jay Higgins – Operations Manager I started in the industry straight from school working in the electrical contracting industry and joined Matters Group in 2004.My role here has grown steadily in line with the company’s growth, moving from the bespoke small scale door entry systems to large scale installations for housing providers – namely multiple tower blocks.In 2010 I moved into the office into a more senior role, now project managing and also looking after company operations.

ResponsibilitiesManagement of contracting works projects, compliance, health & safety, procedures and company operations.

LovesI have a love hate relationship with the gym, I hate going but can’t be without it. I enjoy visiting different towns and cities in the UK and travelling abroad for long weekends exploring the bars and club scene. Love my cars, using free time to head off somewhere at the drop of a hat.

Paul Higgins – Installation Manager

I have been here at the Matters Group since 2002 and grown alongside the company since. Bringing electrical experience with me I soon grasped the intruder alarm systems moving on to access control , CCTV, fire and home automation. Previous projects include high level integrated installations to domestic premises. Large scale door entry & CCTV installations for housing providers.In 2012 I progressed into more technical managerial role which allows me to be mainly office based and concentrate on providing excellent technical support and ensure the installations and service teams are running efficiently and effectively.

ResponsibilitiesTechnical support and management to the installation & service teams. Project management and design for all Audio Visual / Automation projects.

Amanda Lomas – Sales & Marketing Support I started with The Matters Group in 2012 following Personal Assistant roles in the marketing industry.Now at Matters Group I am responsible for the Customer Relationship Management system and look after the sales quotation process supporting the Sales and Managing Director.

Jamie Summerfield – Service Co-ordinator After studying physics, maths, photography & music at college I started working here at the Matters Group and have been growing my role ever since.I provide in-house IT support and the day to day maintenance of our internal IT infrastructure and co-ordinate service calls for reactive repairs on numerous social housing projects.
