• The handbook governs all student activities during the entirety of the school year and any school sponsored activities during the summer

• Any student found in violation of the handbook will be subject to penalties both in and out of season

Weekly• Eligibility begins after the third week or third grade of each semester• Eligibility is cumulative (includes both quarters)• A cumulative grade of “F” (64.49%) in any course will result in a student

begin ineligible for one week• Being ineligible three (3) times during that season will result in removal

from that activity• Grades are verified by teachers by Friday morning• Athletic Director informs student-athletes and coaches of their ineligibility

Semester Ineligibility• Less than a 2.0 semester GPA

AND/OR• Failing two or more classes for the semester

Attendance at School• Student-athletes must be in

attendance ALL DAY to participate on game day.

• Medical or dental appointments will need documentation clearly stating student-athlete is cleared for participation.

• The principal may grant approval in extreme cases.

Team Organization• MFHS coaches will abide by the

IHSA limitations when organizing their team

• Varsity level teams may include freshmen through seniors

• JV teams may include freshmen through juniors (seniors in extreme cases)

• Will be encouraged to attend all levels of competition for the activity they are in

• Dress appropriately when representing Maroa-Forsyth (as designated by the coach)

• Show good sportsmanship on and off the athletic field

• Detentions will be served on the day specified. Repeated detentions will result in discipline by the coach.

“IHSA member schools have the responsibility to maintain proper crowd control and enforce principles of good sportsmanship and ethics. Spectators may be asked to leave the premises for failure to comply with these stated guidelines. The IHSA Executive Director shall have the authority to investigate reported incidents of unsportsmanlike conduct.”IHSA Sportsmanship By-law 2.042

Any coach or student athlete ejected face the following consequences• First Offense

• One game suspension at that level• Written statement by coach/student-athlete ejected within 48

hours after the incident to the principal and athletic director• May not attend contest or travel with team while suspended

• Second Offense• Removed from team for remainder of season

Payment and Equipment• All equipment/gear must be paid for by the

end of the first month of the season• Failure to pay will result in student-athlete not

being able to participate until bill is paid

• All school owned equipment/gear must be turned into coach at conclusion of season• Failure to return items will result in the student-

athlete/parent being billed at replacement cost

Training Rules- Violations• Present where intoxicating substances that can be proven to cause harm to

yourself/others are being used/consumed (Board Policy Code of Conduct 7.190)

• Using/Possessing tobacco or tobacco related products• Guilty or charged with a criminal offense• In the presence of criminal activity• Suspended from school

Training Rule Consequences• 1st Offense

• Up to thirty (30) days suspension if admission of guilt- Sixty (60) day if initially denies allegation and then violation proven

• Begins with next competition• Can roll into next competition

• 2nd Offense• Up to one calendar year from date of offense

• 3rd Offense• Loss of eligibility at Maroa-Forsyth High School in all extra curriculars

Training Rule • Student-athletes on suspension will lose all leadership roles such as captain

or co-captain.• Student-athletes on suspension must attend all practices in order to receive

credit. • Attendance at home and away contests will be at the discretion of the

coach and parents.
