Mario Marsi Cand.arch MAA

Self driven and engaged team player with experience in collective housing and circular economy in start up companies.

The more relevant and bigger the challenge is for society the more i am motivated. Sale-able system proposals and master plans is what i prefer to work with. I believe in giving surfaces their natural texture as the tool for bringing architecture closer to the human scale in buildings. I’m a self driven project manager, that prefer playing in teams. In teamwork situations i often take the group’s concerns on me and find my role in terms of how best to achieve our goal.

MAJAHULT VISION FOR A COLLEKTIVEHOLIDAY FARMMy thesis works with transforming the dream of collective ownership within a micro community of 16 people, in the summerhouse collective Majahult and its old farm, surrounded by forest in Högsby . The main challenge is centered around the need for more fl exible spaces as commitment and purpose are in constant change. I have been striving to create a better spatial relation-ship between private and communal spaces. While strength-ening the qualities of nature to the built envi-ronment. I have transformed a barn and created an architectural framework for opening the community to continuously social and cultural activity.

The task was to make a utopian proposal for a super dens building complex with a mixed program of 10% culture, 50% housing and 40% of retail. And with a density of between 200% and 300%, Christiansholm (aka “The Paper Island”) consists of old newspaper warehouses that are transformed, with the reuse of the warehouse structure, giving space for an urban program of rental workshops and a conference center. Adding a loadbearing grid of concrete beams, for the dens building complex and semipublic park. The Turning point of orientation and connection between public and private space, became the staircases and shared common room, dividing the courtyards in semipublic and public space.

INFOSCALE: XLLOCATION: MALMOE, SWEDENASSIGNMENT: 6 SEMESTER.FOCUS: FLEXIBLE IMPLEMENTA-TION, BASED ON THE SYNERGISTIC RELATION BETWEEN FORMAL AND INFORMAL BUILDING DEVELOPMET

Could a alternative concept of approach solve the constant challenge in city planning today ? How to plan life and livability from the first building phase and maintain a qualitative growth of the city quarters ? Historically some cities most vital and lively parts drive from an informal and often illegal city expansion that gradually has transformed to become recognized as a formal part of the city . Inspired by this Hylljie is an attempt to form a fruitful relation between formal and informal building development.

Thefirstphaseismadetoconnectthesurroundingpartsofthe city, not only with a focus on establishing two main streets - designed to pedestrians, with wide sidewalk streets, trees, lights and vital programs along the connecting streets - but also aiming to create socially sustainable neighborhoods with affordable housing land registers mixed with spaces for the creative middleclass of Oresund.

Thefirstphasecreatesaframeof4-6floorbuildingsalongthe streets. The formal planed streets gather street life as the program is mixed between retail, living, public facilities, elder homes and schools. In the second phase, the inner court-yards of the mega courtyards are divided in affordable pieces of land in which each are inspired from the surrounding typologies in terms of building max height, type of ownership, the relation between footprint and green space. In this way the base for a social diverse neighborhood is formed as each land register in the inner courtyards is gradually sold to self-builders and bigger pieces sold to building developers.

Although the surrounding frames of each courtyard is formal planed and regulated, the inner part is less regulated to the extent of forming a low dens typology with a max height of 2-4-floorbuildingsandformalplanedgreenareasalongtwoexisting biking lanes which connect to the existing biking network of Malmoe.
