EARLY LIFE

• Marilyn’s mom, Gladys Baker, was mentally unstable and financially unable to take care of Norma Jean, so she gave her to forest parents Albert and Ida Bolender. Marilyn lived with them until the age of 7 when Gladys took her away of them, but, shortly after, she began a series of mental episodes that made Gladys's best friend, Grace McKee became her guardian.

Mckee got married and, horribly, sent Norma Jean to an orphanage, and then, after also living in some foster homes, she moved with her great aunt Olive Bruning, where she got raped by his son. In 1938, she lived with her aunt, and then she moved back with Grace and Doc Goddard.

At 16, she escaped of her old life by marrying Jim Dougherty, an aircraft plant worker. Subsequently, Monroe moved in with Dougherty's mother.
