Maple Leaf Charolais (George Stewart) imported some of the first Full French heifers fromFrance in 1965, and continued to import each year until 1974. Full French bulls have been usedon the farm since 1966.In 2002, Maple Leaf Charolais raised and sold the first Polled Full French animal in Canada.In 2005, we travelled to France and toured bull and female stations and visited farms. Welearned a great deal about testing and the data collection that we have relied on to select newsires when adding to our program. We have been striving to produce top quality animals, forboth the commercial and purebred industries, in hopes of providing long-lasting, lowmaintenance and high yielding additions to their herds. We believe the French influence hashelped us to achieve this.At Maple Leaf Charolais it is important to us that our animals have a gentle disposition. Werealize that most breeders can appreciate the benefits attached to having animals they can

work with. Having quiet cattle on the farm, and passing on the same to our buyers is not just our constant mission, it is atradition and a legacy!We believe the females we are offering this fall are all top quality andwell mannered. Welcome to Maple Leaf Charolais Female Production Sale. This is a very unique event asit is the only sale in Canada that is completely sired by and bred to Full French bullswith much of the offering being Full French. This summer was the first opportunity wehad to tour this pioneer operation and we were impressed. The herd had what most inthe industry look for in French cattle, extra muscling and docility. The herd has plentyof these but the Stewarts have also bred in more structural soundness and calving easethan the reputation of French cattle in the early days. They have studied the bulls andimported semen on highly proven sires from France. I grew up in the Charolais business and the French influence cattle are what made thecommercial bull market so popular starting in the ‘70s and beyond. There were

problems with some of the cattle that came in the early importations but you need to have another look at the Frenchcattle now.The Maple Leaf bull market has been very strong with many repeat customers coming back time after time because thebulls work. These are the sisters to the bulls that are in demand. For most in the purebred business these are outcrossfemales, that when mated with your bulls can give you traits you could possibly be looking for. Bidding:Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attendthe sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager,auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received insufficient time prior to the sale.

Disputes: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no furtherbid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneeraccepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is final.Announcements: Announcements made from the auction block willtake precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers arecautioned to pay close attention to announcements.

Purchaser’s Risk:Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonablelength of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured.Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued bythe Canadian Charolais Association. A certificate of registry dulytransferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has beenmade.

Delivery: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. Thepurchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience ofthe seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’srisk and expense.

Breeder Guarantee – Females: As per the Canadian Charolais Association Code of Ethics. Copies areavailable at the settlement desk to be picked up by the buyer at anytime.

Exception Guarantee: In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgicalreproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null andvoid. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreignbodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent atsale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than thepurchase price.

Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety andcomfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellersassume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise,in the event of accident or loss of property.By Livestock is only acting as a medium between the buyer andseller and is not responsible for failure on the part of either party tolive up to their obligations; or for the truth of any warrantees orrepresentations, expressed or implied. By Livestock assumes noobligation to enforce or collect monies between parties. By Livestockassumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to thebuyer.
