Keep it brief. Resist the temptation to include more text than is necessary on your deck. Too much text can lead to your audience’s attention wandering. Worse yet, it can keep them from listening to the dulcet tones of your voice while they try to capture all the text before your god-like finger clicks to the next slide. Then, your audience is going through the grieving process once you’ve moved to the next slide, thus further hindering their ability to be attentive to what it is you’re trying to say. Plus, that next slide is probably going to have more text too, so you’re pushing your audience’s emotional and intellectual well being at the same time.
