(a) Lakshdweep Gp of Islands comprise of 36 islands out which 11 are inhabited.(b) Capital - Kavaratti (Adm HQ).(c) Airport - Agatti.(d) Tourism Islands (Distance from Kochi).

(i) Open to Indians & Foreigners - Bangaram (459 Km), Kadmat (407 Km) & Agatti (459 Km).(ii) Open to Indians Only - Minocoy (398 Km), Kalpeni (287 Km) & Kavaratti (404 Km).

(e) “Low Volume - High Value - Ecology” Tourism.(f) Entry to Islands : As a member of the package, entry is free, otherwise permit is needed.

6. LTC – Cost.

(a) By Air. AI – LTC class from Duty Stn – Kochi - Agatti and back.Disadvantages – You are stuck at Agatti. Make your own arngs for meals/boarding/loadging/tpt/move to any other island/water sports/etc-Pay heavily (option to be ex if time is less, as max time is available for holiday, though at one place. Better sporting facilities are avalibale at Agati, Kadmat and Bangaram).

(b) By Ship. From duty stn to Kochi by AI-LTC class. From Kochi in Ship.Advantages - Boarding/lodging/all meals/tpt/move from Ship to island/tpt at island/welcome drink, tea, lunch at island, tpt, visit, folk-dance, etc at island all taken care of in the Ship ticket/package.

(c) The Critical Issue. LTC – Ship Cost certificate taken from Kochi office should specify only travel Cost and not meals/boarding & lodging. (Same logic as – Shatabdi & Rajdhani where food is served as part of rail tkt).

7. At Kochi. Your travel to Lakshadweep covers Kochi. So, on your way in/out visit

9. Ship Cost.(a) 4 days - Rs 16,000/- per hd for first class cabin (Twin Beds with att bathroom) and Rs 12,000/- per hd for Bunk class (Double Deckker – 4 Beds with att bath room). (b) 5 days. Rs 21,000/- per hd for first class cabin (Twin Beds with att bathroom) and Rs 16,000/- per hd for Bunk class with att bath room.

10. Type of Ship.(a) Bigger Ships. Like MV Kavaratti have Domestic traveller capacity of 500 pax & 200 tourists.(b) Smaller Ships. Like MV Lakshadweep Sea & Arabian Sea have Domestic traveller capacity of 200 pax & 10 tourists.(c) Advantage of Small Ship. Personal attention to tourist on board as well as on each island. No que for anything. Preferred option.(d) Advantage Big ship. Very stable travels fast plenty of time in island for all activity

11. Best Season.(a) Nov to Feb. Ideal period.(b) Nov & Feb. Less Tourists and easy bookings. Rates are economical for taxi, accn & tourism.

(c) Dec till Mid Jan. Peak tourist season. Difficult booking, atleast 4 months in adv. All rates/cost of travel/taxi, etc very high. (d) Important to have cash in hand for booking. Whenever booking confirmation can only be given if money is paid upfront.

12.
