Live Type and IMovie

Here I am inserting text that will be used in the trailer I am making.

It also appears in the timeline here, so that I am aware of how long the text will show up for and what effects I am using to coincide with the text.

Page 3: Live type and IMovie

I chose this font because it has a messy, horror like quality to it. I think it will fit in well with the trailer.

Here I added an effect to the text, to make it look more creepy, maybe slightly supernatural.

I think trailer captions are an important aspect, therefore adding an effect to the text makes the trailer seem more realistic.

The effect is visible here.

Clicking “apply” adds the effect to the text.

IMovie

To first start making the trailer, I had to import the scenes I’d filmed into IMovie.

Once imported, all the scenes appeared at the bottom of the screen and they could be placed in the order we wanted them in the trailer by clicking and dragging them here.

Transitions could be added in between clips. We chose to use a “fade to black” because it is used in many horror trailers

It was important to keep the background black, to keep in tone with the horror genre.

The transitions could be made longer, or shorter be editing the duration time.

Here you can see the “fade to black” being inserted into the trailer.

Sound could also be added to the trailer. They could be placed over the top of clips and the volume could be increased or decreased depending on how the group wanted it.

Using the “video” tab, it was possible to manipulate the colours, brightness, saturation and contrast of the scene. I decided to make it quite dark and shadowy, to keep the scene as creepy as possible.

Once the scenes had been arranged the way the group wanted, I added text slides for the film company names and captions in between clips.

I selected a black background because the white text appeared quite creepy against the background.

The text slide could be made longer or shorter (time wise) be editing the duration.
