KK Ng, a veteran in the marine and offshore sector, formed the company in 2008.

Ultimately, Ng would like to see Lion Global Offshore developing and even owning its own oilrigs, however at the moment its focus is on offering complete end-to-end expertise in the rig or offshore construction sector. With a current emphasis in China, the company is working with a Singapore-based company to build four rigs. Lion

procurement and construction has a proper procedure. “Everything we do is system driven. We have developed a global system whereby there is complete consistency, transparency, traceability and accountability.”

Ng himself is extremely active in Lion Global Offshore and has a close-knit management team working alongside him. “Collectively we bring a lot of experience to the table and between us we have developed a management system to bring younger, less experienced team members up to speed,” he says. By implementing this training system, Lion Global Offshore is much more agile: “It is easy to bring in young engineers with only a couple of years experience under the existing system and structure - we have found a formula for speeding up the learning curve and they ‘hit the road running’.”

Ng himself also has a lot of international experience, working in both Brazil and Spain, and he is using this knowledge to navigate the Chinese market – an economy he recognizes as booming. “China is a growing business hub and that is where we are looking for life,” he says.

Building strong relationshipsThroughout his rich and varied career in the industry, Ng has learnt what a difference good customer service makes. “At the center of everything we do is the customer,” he says. Not content with just making profit, Ng wants his customers to feel confident in Lion Global Offshore’s capable hands. Furthermore, Ng is only too aware that he doesn’t want Lion Global Offshore to be a flash-in-the-pan

type business – “every business decision we make, we make with longevity in mind,” he says, and central to that aim is robust customer service principles.

So, what does the future hold for Lion Global Offshore? “I would like to take our proprietary rig design to market,” says Ng, “that is my ultimate aim because it will sustain the company – I don’t just want to be a service entity. In the near future, I would like to list the
