Lortscher Grain was

founded in 1948 by

Dave and Marjorie

Lortscher.

In 1975, Gary and Betty Lortscher purchased

the company and changed the name to

Lortscher Agri Service, Inc. Main focuses:

grain, fertilizer, feed, milling, warehouse and

distribution, and research and development

with pet food companies.

The company was purchased in 2010 by the current ownership

group: Brent & Linda Lortscher, Tim & Yvonne Krehbiel, and

Rand Schafer. Due to continued success and growth of all

divisions of LASI, it became necessary to separate out the

different segments of business. The “Animal Nutrition” as

well as “Agronomy” divisions now operate as separate entities

but under the direction of the parent company, Lortscher Agri

Service, Inc.

Brent is the son of Gary and Betty Lortscher

and serves as President and Plant Engineer for

LANI while Linda operates the Human

Resources Department. They reside outside of

Bern and have three children: Kirsten, Dylan

and Madison. They are very active in the

community of Bern and very loyal supporters

of the Royals!

Tim serves as the head Agronomist for the

Bern Seed division of LASI, while Yvonne

(daughter of Gary and Betty Lortscher) is

busy at home with their three daughters:

Helen, Rachel and Amanda. They reside in

Bern and they too are very active in the local

community as well as their Church.

Rand Shafer has worked at Lortscher Agri Service, Inc. for

over 20 years and now serves as part owner of LASI and

General Manager of LANI. After serving in the United

States Navy for several years, Rand joined Gary and Betty

and helped develop a culture of “Quality First” when it

came to sourcing ingredients and finished flour. Rand

resides outside of Du Bois, NE and has two children: Taylor

and Nolan.

Food certified, EU 1774 and organic certified. We also

execute a vendor assurance program to verify quality of
