Welcome to Lake Sidney Lanier. Located just 35 milesnortheast of Atlanta, Georgia, the lake offers some of the finest recreational opportunities in the South. Built in the 1950’s by the U.S. Arm y Corps of Engineers (USACE), this 39,000 acre lake has over 692 miles of shoreline. USACE operates 40 park areas around the lake for camping and day use activities.

Day Use Park Information

The USACE operates 33 day use parks at Lake Lanier. Facilities range from parks with boat ramps to those with designated swimming areas, picnic tables, shelters and playgrounds. All day use parks close daily at 10:00 PM from April 1st – September 29th, 2018. (See website for more details on hours of operation.) Boat launching is allowed at all hours unless otherwise posted. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in all parks.

- Laurel Ridge Trail - The Laurel Ridge Trail is approx imate ly 4.0 mi les in length and provides spectacular views of Buford Dam, Lake Lanier and the Chattahoochee River. It can be accessed from Lower Overlook, Upper Overlook, Lower Pool East, or Buford Dam Park. Numbered posts along the trail indicate points of interest and are described by a brochure available from the Lake Visitor Center and at the trailhead in Lower Overlook Park. Please see park hours under Day Use Park Information.

Camping InformationUSACE operates 7 campgrounds (see map) on the lake. Camping enthusiasts may enjoy the luxuries of fully developed areas with water and electric hookups or “roughing it” at pack-in primitive sites. Most campgrounds have park attendants on duty to assist our visitors. Camping in undesignated areas such as on the lake’s shoreline and islands is prohibited.

- Rules and Regulations

Registration: All campers and their visitors must register at the park’s entry station

Campsite Occupancy: Limited to a maximum of 8 people and 3 vehicles. Due to limited parking only one camper trailer or motorhome is allowed per site. All tents must be placed on the designated impact area.

Visitors: Registered campers must depart the campground by 9:30 PM or when the camper checks out prior to this time.

Park Gates: Locked from 10:30 PM. until 7:00 AM. For emergencies please contact the park attendant at their trailer located next to the entry station.

Check-out Time: 1:00 PM. An additional fee will be charged for late departure.

Check-in Time: For reservations is after 3:00 PM.

Length of Stay: No longer than 14 days during any 30 consecutive day period.

Minors: Only adults (18 years or older) may rent a campsite. Minors may not be left in the campground without adult supervision.

Motorized Vehicles: Vehicles operated by visitors in the park must have a license tag and be operated by licensed drivers. Vehicles may not be operated or parked off the roadway.

Noise: Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. Unreasonable or excessive noise at any time is prohibited.

Garbage: Will be deposited at the dumpster or removed from campground.

Greywater: The discharge of greywater and sewage is prohibited. A dump station is provided for your use.

Pets: Must be kept on a leash not exceeding 6 feet in length. Pets are not allowed in restrooms, playgrounds, shelters or designated swim areas.

Fires: Must be confined in a designated fire ring or grill. Only dead wood on the ground may be collected for firewood. No chainsaws can be used.

Alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Complete rules and regulations are posted at the entrances to all campgrounds

Boating Safety: • Take a boating safety course.• Obey all state and federal boating regulations.• Stay clear of swimmers.• Be watchful for obstructions in the water.• Follow the rules of the road.• Let a family member or friend know your plans.• Children less than 13 years old must wear

life jackets.
