instilling strong academic, social, creative and ethical foundations, which will allow

them to reach their full potentials and equip them for further studies at the finest

universities.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Program

KG Curriculum

Our curriculum has been developed to reflect the holistic nature of children’s

learning. It focuses on the importance of learning through hands on activities and a

commitment to structured, purposeful inquiry, as it underpins all development and

learning for young children. Teachers are required to adhere to the principles of

developmentally appropriate practice, which allows children to follow their own

interests amongst various purposeful and stimulating activities within their learning

environment.

Hands on experiences- in and out of the classroom environment- are a strong aspect

of our curriculum as they help students bring meaning to knowledge.

Newsletters

Weekly newsletters will be sent via email every Thursday. Parents can see what

concepts the students have covered for that week, and the upcoming events.

Report Cards

The academic year is divided into two semesters. A formal report card will be sent at

the end of each semester. They indicate student progress in meeting curricular goals,

both academically and socially. Parents must remember that each child develops

at a different rate and they should be encouraging and supportive.

Lunch Boxes

At ETS we promote healthy eating.

We ask parents to help raise awareness of healthy eating by not sending in

any chocolate, candy or chips.

Please send a healthy snack every day with your child. A healthy snack

includes small sandwiches, vegetable sticks, fruit, crackers, and juice.

Children should bring filled water bottle with them every day.

We also ask that parents send a size appropriate lunch box with their child.

occasion.

attached to clothes items and books in addition to all other belongings;

otherwise lost items cannot be identified.

When to keep your child home from school

A sick child does not feel well enough to participate comfortably in usual

activities. Keeping children home when they are too sick for school protects

other students and staff from potential illness.

Keep your child at home, if he/she has any of the following symptoms:

Vomiting, Lice, Fever, Diarrhea, Chronic cough and/or runny nose, Eye

infection: Contagious eye infection: pink eye (conjunctivitis) or thick mucus or

pus draining from eye; the child should stay home until 24 hours after

treatment. If the child has chicken pox, he/she should stay home until blisters

have dried and crusted.

Reporting to the clinic

Parents should be reporting to the school clinic any medical condition

(communicable disease) diagnosed outside the school.

Parents should submit to the school clinic a medical certificate including

diagnosis and recommended exclusion time from school - Informing the school

clinic of any health complications/treatment/special recommendations

School Clinic

Annual medical checkups is carried out for all students.

All vaccinations that are required by the Ministry of Health are made available

to our students free of charge and are administered through our clinic.

Our students are covered by our accident insurance policy against accidents;

the coverage for medical treatment is JD500 per accident. Such cases are

transferred by agreement to Al-Istishari Hospital or Ibn Al-Haitham Hospital.

Page 15: Kindergarten Parent Handbook 2018-2019ets.edu.jo/Portals/Portal1/Upload/Block/Image/KG Parent...IB MYP Certificate P a g e | 6 IB DP Certificate P a g e | 7 Cambridge Primary (CP)

P a g e | 15

The school nurse is notified immediately of accident cases and all necessary

first-aid is administered through the clinic. The nurse studies the case and

makes her recommendation on whether the student needs to be referred to

the hospital, she then immediately contacts the parents to inform them about

the incident and explains the measures that were taken.

If a student needs to take certain medication during school hours, parents are

requested to send the medication directly to the school nurse to be kept with

her and taken in her presence. Students may not keep any kind of medication

in their pockets, desks or bags.

Parents of children who are allergic to certain food items must instruct their

children accordingly. Parents should also inform the school nurse in writing

about any allergies, medical conditions, or medication requiring the school’s

knowledge and action.

Please do not send your child to school if he/she is ill. If a child has a

temperature, he/she should be kept home for at least twenty-four hours after

the temperature returns to normal. Any student who becomes ill or injured at

school will be seen by the school nurse. The doctor will assess the student's

condition. If we feel additional medical care is needed, we will immediately

contact parents.

School / Home Connection

A communication notebook is sent on a daily basis with your child. Teachers

will write different comments, and in turn parents may also write notes to the

teachers.

If at any point parents wish to meet with the administration, they can set an

appointment.

Please check your email, mobile phones, and student lunch boxes for any

messages the school might send.
