The Kahumoku ‘Ohana Hawaiian Music & Lifestyle Workshop will be held on Nov. 30 - Dec. 8, 2007 on the Big Island at Pahala Plantation House and Cottages. Masters of Hawaiian music, including recipients of Grammy and Na Hoku Hanohano awards, will teach Slack key, ‘Ukulele, Hawaiian Steel Guitar, Hula, Lei making, Hawaiian Language and Singing. Participants can choose to focus on one discipline or take a variety of classes. The setting is a large historic home and grounds with indoor and outdoor venues in the historic building, on lanai, in pavilions and under the canopy of tropical trees. Integral to the eight days are cuisine and cultural practices including lei making, wreath making, story telling and cooking Hawaiian foods. These optional classes for musicians are also extended to friends and family members through our discounted family plan. The location is near Volcanoes National Park, Punalu‘u Black Sand Beach and Green Sand Beach, offering many activities for those accompanying the participants.
