Hancock’s of Paducah. October 10, 2017Seed Packet is a pattern from the new Kaffe Fassett book, Bold Blooms. It is a simple format ofvarious size squares. Large scale floral and vegetable and fruit fabrics are fussy cut for each square.Choose your fabrics with an eye for them to create a harmonious arrangement. They should gotogether well – perhaps most will have a similar background or same level of brightness. This means that you should choose many, but not all, of them in one colour. The original is biased toward reds with either the backgrounds or flowers in red tones. The blossoms or fruit should fill out the large 6” squares and the small 3 ¼” squares that you will fussy cut. This is smaller than the measurements in the Bold Bloom book so that more variety of the design can be arranged during the workshop on the design wall.This is a class suitable for beginners who already know how to sew a seam and how to use a rotary cutter. It is also for more advanced quiltmakers who wish to concentrate on complex colour development.SUPPLIES TO BRING TO CLASS• Copy of Kaffe Fassett book: Bold Blooms - This will be included in your class admission. • Rotary cutter• Cutting mat - at least 12” x 18”• Rotary ruler - at least 6” x 12”• Neutral colour flannel for a design wall at least 40” x 72”. We prefer that you use taupe, grey,or cocoa colored flannel (not white!) Kaffe Fassett Flannel designs wall works best. This will be included in your class admission. • Fabric scissors• Pencil• Pins• Optional: reducing glass or peepholePlease note: No sewing takes place during the workshop.On the day you will be able to buy a whole range of fabrics. Kaffe will be able to assist you on picking out different colours to use for your quilt.BEFORE THE CLASSMAIN FABRICSBring to class at least 25 different fabrics - any amount of each fabric, from a 9” square to ½ yards of each. Keeping in mind you will be fussy cutting these fabrics.NOTE: Please feel free to bring any fabrics that you would like to use in the class - these do not have to be Kaffe Fassett Collective fabrics. You will have time to shop at Hancock’s for these fabrics. There will be plenty of time to cut the fabrics in class so do not precut any fabrics.
