APACC RECONFERS BRONZE AWARD TO JZGMSAT

By Arlene G. De Guzman

After several months of waiting for the re-accreditation results of the recently concluded Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC) on-site revisit this year, Jacobo Z. Gonzales Memorial School of Arts and Trades (JZGMSAT) was once again conferred a Bronze Level Status by the prestigious accrediting body.

After three years of being accredited with a Bronze Level status, JZGMSAT renewed its commitment to quality improvement as it underwent the re-accreditation process under APACC last April. The APACC team of accreditors conducted the on-site visit and validation of the Self-Study Report on April 12-13, 2012 headed by Engr. Md. Jahangir Alam as the team leader and Dr. Romulita Alto as team member with Mr. Rae Emmanuel Echaveria, APACC Staff. Also in attendance was an accreditation officer from the Mongolian National Council for Education Accreditation, Ms. B. Altanchimeg to witness how APACC conducts its visits.

The on-site visit started with an opening program wherein the institution welcomed the APACC accreditors and guests. The opening program was followed by a presentation about JZGMSAT and APACC, question and answer and agreement on the set schedule. The validation of the Self-Study Report was followed by a tour of the school facilities to strengthen the validation results. After the tour was the finalization of the report by the APACC Team and their final team meeting. During the exit conference, Mr. Rolando V. Dela Torre, Engr. Md. Jahangir Alam and Dr. Romulita Alto gave their closing remarks. The accreditors gave a summary of their observations and recommendations for the school as well as the strong points.

The Final Accreditors Report duly signed by the APACC Team which contains the over-all findings including affirmations and recommendations as well as commendations for the institution were transmitted by APACC President Dr. Mohammad Naim Yaakub on September 4, 2012. The accreditors have noted significant improvements within the institution two years after it gained the APACC Bronze level accreditation in 2009. They stated commendations in the area of Governance and Management, Teaching and Learning and Learning, Research and Development and Support to Students.

During the 52nd Founding Anniversary of JZGMSAT on September 14, 2012, the APACC Marker for the Bronze Award was unveiled by TESDA Deputy Director General Atty. Teodoro C. Pascua. This symbol will signify JZGMSAT’s advocacy in providing quality assured programs and services. The Bronze Level Award will serve not only as recognition but a reminder that there is still much to improve.
