The authorities had initially decided to implement light rail, but then they went ahead

with the bus rapid transit system under JnNURM.

Metro started undergoing construction before the BRT was completed.

    Work for both continuingsimultaneously

Jaipur BRT: Feasibility study done by PDCOR Ltd.

Only about 5 KM of BRT lane

    created.

    After disruptions and delays, BRT

now has an open system, with the

    buses intermingling in the mixedtraffic.

Infrastructure needed for the BRT is

    still not completed.

Jaipur Metro: Feasibility study done by DMRC.

Two routes of 12 and 23 KM have

    been proposed.

    Infrastructure construction is still

    ongoing.

No idea if the Metro is supposed toact as feeder to the BRT, or the BRT

is to be support for Metro

  • 7/28/2019 Justification of Questions

    10/10

    1. Why do cities decide on one thing, change their mind halfway through, and then go

ahead with another thing with modifications to old ones? What lead to this change

    of mind?

    2. What will be the probable impact of these decisions on the mode? What will be the

final outcome of the transit plan?

    Q U E S T I O N S :

    I N F E R E N C E S :

    1. A comprehensive alternative analysis of the city is missing.

    2. The timeline decided for transit infrastructure has not been followed.

    3. The BRTS corridors are incomplete.
