Play is an integral part of a child’s growing up process which cannot take a back sit instead it has to be very much a part of the curriculum and deserves equal importance in the child’s development. Lack of play is turning our children into depressed, hos tile and obese. It’s time we let our children play with openness without being bound by rules, structure and time. We need to encourage our children for outdoor play instead of being addicted to battery operated toys which lead to lack of communication skills, physical and mental health. Play develops different domains in a child: 1. Cognitive domain Improve memory, stimulate growth, academic tasks, emotional growth and building self-confidence. 2. Social domain Meet new friends, outdoor activity with friends which develops empathy, compassion sharing and verbal nonverbal skills. 3. Physical domain It develops in reducing stress, injury, depression, fatigue, increases agility, coordination, balance and fine motor development. 4. Emotional domain The child develops and gains self-confidence, increase self-esteem, develops feel good factor, appraise their strength, abilities, and develops sense of accomplishment. Play allows the child to be healthy, socially acceptable, emotionally balanced and will reduce their aggression to make them more acceptable in their surroundings. Let us create an environment where our children can experience the age old games like lagori, saath pittu, gutte, lattu, gilli danda, dope khel etc. So let us free our children from the bondage of guided technology driven games and explore the fields, grounds. Let them fall, get hurt and grow as stronger individuals. More power to play! REFLECTION SENIOR BUZZ -Grade _VIIE___ From the Principal’’s Desk

DPSN……… the Place to Be!

The Power of Play

Our children are racing against time in this technology

driven world. The word ‘Play’ is being replaced by

technology, strict schedules, guided and structured

activities and monitored learning. ‘Play’ is fast

disappearing from the life of our young children which is

leading to many growing up challenges.

Play is an integral part of a child’s growing up process which cannot take a back sit instead it

has to be very much a part of the curriculum and deserves equal importance in the child’s

development. Lack of play is turning our children into depressed, hostile and obese. It’s time

we let our children play with openness without being bound by rules, structure and time.

We need to encourage our children for outdoor play instead of being addicted to battery

operated toys which lead to lack of communication skills, physical and mental health.

Play develops different domains in a child:

1. Cognitive domain – Improve memory, stimulate growth, academic tasks, emotional

growth and building self-confidence.

2. Social domain – Meet new friends, outdoor activity with friends which develops

empathy, compassion sharing and verbal nonverbal skills.

3. Physical domain – It develops in reducing stress, injury, depression, fatigue, increases

agility, coordination, balance and fine motor development.

4. Emotional domain – The child develops and gains self-confidence, increase self-esteem,

develops feel good factor, appraise their strength, abilities, and develops sense of

accomplishment.

Play allows the child to be healthy, socially acceptable, emotionally balanced and will reduce

their aggression to make them more acceptable in their surroundings. Let us create an

environment where our children can experience the age old games like lagori, saath pittu, gutte,

lattu, gilli danda, dope khel etc. So let us free our children from the bondage of guided

technology driven games and explore the fields, grounds. Let them fall, get hurt and grow as

stronger individuals. More power to play!

Academic activities

Nostalgia….Dakia daak laya

Tring.. tring.. the bell of the postman and feverish excitement of rushing to fetch my

letter and open it with shaking hands, the sparkle in the eyes to read what the loved one

has written…… Yes, it turns us nostalgic to remember the good old days when words

were penned down from the bottom of our hearts. Those words were real and not virtual.

The students class 7 of Delhi Public School, Nashik tried to turn the clock back when

they wrote letters to each other expressing beautifully their thoughts. The excitement of

the students during this activity aroused in them an interest for a long forgotten

practice. They wrote the letters enthusiastically, posted them and on receiving the letters

their joy knew no bounds. Their faces showed it all. Such an interesting activity will be

carried in their hearts forever and who knows someday the good old days might return.

of fibre to wool.

The topics of chapter ‘New kings and kingdoms’ were taught by the young educators to

each other through group discussion. They demonstrated the topic giving various

illustrations and with the help of collage activity.
