The financial year 2006-07 has ended on a positive note, financially and operationally. Strong demand from steel industry worldwide has been an important factor for the encouraging results. However, optimum use of key resources like chrome ore and electricity has been our objective, to keep costs under control. We need to achieve longterm viability, as market prices and demand do and will fluctuate. Further integration to coal mining and expansion of electricity generation is now pursued expeditiously for adequate fundamental strength. Lets hope and put our best efforts to better our operations in the current year. Consistency in operations is extremely important for us to implement our future plans. But there is scope for more pro-activity, which we need to put in our planning process. We have prioritised on recruitment of new talent to manage and lead our new projects. The financial year 2006-07 has ended on a positive note, financially and operationally. Strong

demand from steel industry worldwide has been an important factor for the encouraging

results. However, optimum use of key resources like chrome ore and electricity has been our

objective, to keep costs under control. We need to achieve longterm viability, as market prices

and demand do and will fluctuate. Further integration to coal mining and expansion of electricity

generation is now pursued expeditiously for adequate fundamental strength.

Lets hope and put our best efforts to better our operations in the current year. Consistency in

operations is extremely important for us to implement our future plans.

Dear Colleagues,

One of the four ongoing projects, the 30 MVA furnace at Chowduar has just been completed and commissioned successfully. This adds another 40,000 MT to our Ferro Chrome capacity, which is a significant step in our constant endeavour for leadership amongst integrated producers in India. The project completion got delayed by about six months . We are serious about drawing lessons from this lapse. The industrial hyper activity that we see in Odisha today has brought to the fore many new factors that affect schedules. But there is scope for more pro-activity, which we need to put in our planning process.

We have prioritised on recruitment of new talent to manage and lead our new projects. New members of IMFA family at all locations are not only taking care of assignments and responsibilities, but are also bringing in new ideas and new perspectives which is so very important. The induction and orientation process of first few months is a two way traffic, and sets the platform for effective teamwork.

On the commercial front, we are experiencing a slight downturn in the international demand for ferro chrome. The silver lining however is, quarter to quarter price movements are becoming nominal, unlike in the cyclical past; I am very hopeful this is the beginning of a new trend of stability in demand and price of our product.

THE PERFECT GIRLA friend asked a gentleman how it is that he never married ? Replied the gentleman, "Well, I guess I just never met the right woman ... I guess I've been looking for the perfect girl." "Oh, come on now," said the friend, "Surely you have met at least on girl that you wanted to marry."

"Yes, there was one girl .. once. I guess she was the one perfect girl .. the only perfect girl I really ever met. She was just the right everything .. I really mean that she was the perfect girl for me." "Well, why didn't you marry her," asked the friend. "She was looking for the perfect man," he said.

Genie In The Lamp

A man was walking along a California beach and stumbled upon an old lamp. He picked it up and rubbed it and out popped a genie. The genie said "OK. OK. You released me from the lamp, blah, blah, blah. This is the 4th time this month and I'm getting a little sick of these wishes so you can forget about three. You only get one wish! The man sat and thought about it for a while and said, "I've always wanted to go to Hawaii, but I'm scared to fly and I get very seasick. Could you build me a bridge to Hawaii so I can drive over there to visit?" The genie laughed and said, "That's impossible! Think of the logistics of that! How would the supports ever reach the bottom of the Pacific? Think of how much concrete . . how much steel!! No, think of another wish!" The man said OK and tried to think of a really good wish. Finally, he said, "I've been married and divorced four times. My wives always said that I don't care and that I'm insensitive. So, I wish that I could understand women . . …. know how they feel inside and what they're thinking when they give me the silent treatment . . .know why they're crying, know what they really want when they say, 'nothing' . . . know how to make them truly happy . . ." The genie said, "You want that bridge with two lanes or four?"

The richest man is not he who has the most, but he who needs the least.

A man was walking down the streets of Washington DC one night. All of a sudden a mugger sticks a gun in his ribs and says. Give me all your money.

He replied, "Do you realize I am an important member of government?" The robber said, "In that case give me all my money!"

A man appeared before St. Peter at the pearly gates. "Have you ever done anything of particular merit?" St. Peter asked."Well, I can think of one thing," the man offered. "Once, on a trip to the Black Hills out in South Dakota, I came upon a gang of high-testosterone bikers, who were threatening a young woman. I directed them to leave her alone, but they wouldn't listen. So, I approached the largest and most heavily tattooed biker and smacked him on the head, kicked his bike over, ripped out his nose ring and threw it on the ground. I yelled, 'Now, back off biker boy or you'll answer to me!'"St. Peter was impressed. "When did this happen?""Just a couple minutes ago."

When the man came home, his wife was crying."Your mother insulted me," she sobbed."My mother? How could she do that when she is on vacation on the other side of the world?" the man asked."I know. But this morning a letter addressed to you arrived. I opened it because I was curious.""And?""At the end of the letter it was written:PS. Dear Diane, when you have finished reading this letter, don't forget to give it to my son."

A man and a friend are playing golf one day at their local golf course. One of the guys is about to chip onto the green when he sees a long funeral procession on the road next to the course. He stops in mid-swing, takes off his golf cap, closes his eyes, and bows down in prayer. His friend says: “Wow, that is the most thoughtful and touching thing I have ever seen. You truly are a kind man.” The man then replies: “Yeah, well we were married 35 years.”

Winners versus Losers

The Winner is always a part of the answer; The Loser is always a part of the problem.

The Winner always has a program; The Loser always has an excuse.

The Winner says, "Let me do it for you;"The Loser says, "That's not my job."

The Winner sees an answer for every problem; The Loser sees a problem in every answer.

The Winner says, "It may be difficult but it's possible;"

The Loser says, "It may be possible but it's too difficult."

We are what we repeatedly do; excellence, then, is not an act but a habit. —Aristotle
