Life was once a living hell But now I’m in hog heaven. Continued on page 2 When I was young, my teeth were pulled, I was forced to fight bad Pits. My abode back then was a bare cage, Now I reside at the Ritz! One day, I was thrown from a truck-- Let me tell you, that was no fun. There was mass confusion and fright! Where to go? Which way to run? Eventually, the police took me To a rescue where there was no sorrow. For a year, though, I was in limbo, With no plans for a tomorrow. One day, the rescue went belly-up, They took all the dogs but me! Why did no one think I was worthy Of a chance to be happy and free? Make the bed? I thought you said break the bed! My current itinerary is rides in our Hyundai With visits to schools with the kids. The days are full of fun things to do; I don’t want to put on the skids! Come visit me, get a gummy kiss, And there’s always time for a hug. You’ll be left with happy memories And your heart will feel a tug. My friend Gina brought me to Journey’s End Where they discovered I was blind, Now Dr. Priehs takes good care of me. He’s the best ophthalmologist you’ll find! Parts are missing, but the hearts are all there Parts are missing, but the hearts are all there Parts are missing, but the hearts are all there Parts are missing, but the hearts are all there Grover, Lisa, Misty, and One-Eyed Jack, All are minus one of their eyes. Still they run and twirl with a single eye, Chasing lizards and bees and flies. You can call them rambunctious and quirky, You can call them words of all kinds. Grover, Lisa, Misty, and One-Eyed Jack,
All are minus one of their eyes.
Still they run and twirl with a single eye,
Chasing lizards and bees and flies.
You can call them rambunctious and quirky,
You can call them words of all kinds.
There are two things you can’t call them,
And that is cross-eyed and blind.
Hand me the wrench
Florence, may I get my learner’s permit?

Our one-eyed horse is Misty,
Never had a blanket or stall,
She was much loved all of her life,
But now she has it all.
Once they have met you, they’ll never forget you,
You’ll be instant friends, not strangers.
Casper high-fives, Powder sits and gives kisses;
They could qualify as Canadian Rangers!
She’s older than Methuselah
And lays down flat to rest,
Don’t even try to fly–spray her,
She’ll put you to the test!
Pepper Ann, Precious, Tri-pod and Danny
All have limbs that aren’t right.
But to look at their bright, shiny faces,
You’ll witness a happy sight.
She has a very favorite treat
(No, it’s not a fajita…)
What she really, really likes
Are bananas called Chiquita!
Powder and Casper are both albino
And have a jelly bean for an eye.
Their acrobatics defy the Wallendas!
That’s the truth…would I tell you a lie?
Danny was offered wheels --- no go!
She walks on two front legs (why not?),
We asked her how she does that;
She said, “I’ll make do with what I’ve got.”
Now we’ll talk about our two best friends,
Though Skippy and Snow are infamous mutts.
There’s a lot to be said about them,
The main thing is, they’ve got guts.
Don’t stand in their way or invade their space,
They’ll mow you down and run over your toes!
It’s a race to the gate; the first one’s the winner,
Chasing balls and chickens! So it goes…
Others come with unseen wounds,
Starving stomachs, pain, a broken heart.
None come looking for sympathy,
But to forgive and accept a head start.
Some come with youth on their side,
And stay for many years.
Some come for a very short time,
But all are missed with equal tears.

Jack

We are averaging 70 phone calls a week asking us to accept animals, but unfortunately we cannot save the
world, as much as we dearly wish we could. Our criteria for accepting animals now must be limited to only
homeless animals from the streets who also have special needs.
“Rumors of our wealth have been greatly exaggerated…”
It has been brought to our attention by multiple sources in the community that there are some commonly accepted but
mistaken notions about our financial situation. We have recently learned that some believe we inherited over a million
dollars, and another rumored belief is that we are fully funded. Neither of these beliefs is true.
Given that the sanctuary subsists solely on donations from our supporters, it is very important to dispel these false
assumptions. Journey’s End has not acquired wealth, nor are we being fully funded; on the contrary, we completely
rely on the continued donations of our generous supporters which enable us to operate, often on a month-to-month
basis only, and sometimes just barely.
As always, we are deeply thankful for your support, and we do not want misinformation to create a belief that it is no
longer needed. The ongoing generosity of our loyal supporters continues to be the only way Journey’s End is able to
remain open.
