edible architecture based around hansel & gretel...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
o edible architecture in the form of a gingerbread, chocolate and confectionery house, with a popcorn ‘popping’ chimney and a lawn lined with cupcakes. the feast was held at
the brunswick centre, london on behalf of great ormond street.
o whilst working for alma-nac collaborative architecture i was responsible for the design and construction of one of the main components of
the installation along with the arrangement of this within the whole project.
o as the materials used for the project were mainly items that have rarely been used often not at all in construction, we had to experiment
and frequently alter the design during the construction process.
o although the deadlines were tight, the finished design proved to be flawless in quality, standing the test of time, with many voracious children all trying to demolish this visually splendid structure achieving international accolades.

o the school design follows an education brief from the neath port talbot education authority and is being designed in close collaboration with local planners and the project design team.
o i have been part of a team creating sketches for the initial design, attempting to provide a functional space that combines the local grain of the site, utilising the natural materials with a contemporary facade.
o the complexity and vast range of the topography has given the opportunity for much freedom to test and experiment with space planning, to create an efficient outcome, balancing the construction cost with
practicality of space.
Top Elevation view of the school buildings from a residential road which runs alongside the school site. This view demonstrates the site level changes. In the foreground is the younger years wing accommodating the nursery, reception and years 1-2. In the background, the upper school for years 3-6.
Bottom Sketch aerial view of school site. The shape of the building naturally creates a defensible site. - The two classroom wings enfold a secure outdoor congregation and play space.
