Prayer for the Protection
of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Holy Virgin of Guadalupe, Queen of the Angels and Mother of the Americas.
We fly to you today as your beloved children. We ask you to intercede for
us with your Son, as you did at the wedding in Cana.
Pray for us, loving Mother,
and gain for our nation and world,
and for all our families and loved ones,
the protection of your holy angels,
that we may be spared the worst of this illness.
For those already afflicted,
we ask you to obtain the grace of healing and deliverance.
Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful,
wipe away their tears and help them to trust.
In this time of trial and testing,
teach all of us in the Church to love one another and to be patient and kind.
Help us to bring the peace of Jesus to our land and our hearts.
We come to you with confidence,
knowing that you truly are our compassionate mother,
health of the sick and cause of our joy.
Shelter us under the mantle of your protection,
keep us in the embrace of your arms,
help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus.
Amen.

PARISH NEWS
Parish Rectory Office Closed Until Further Notice
Our Parish Rectory Staff will be working remotely until further notice. If you need assistance, please call and leave a message at 896-6400. You can also email us at: [email protected].
If someone is in danger of death, please make certain that is relayed in the message.
If you have offering envelopes that you want to drop off, please leave them in the Poor Box, located in the rear of the church. It is securely locked at all times. Thank you for your continued generosity in these uncertain times. May God continue to bless you and your families.
Please continue to visit the St. Mary’s Parish website and Facebook page for regular updates and communications from the Parish. We are currently posting both audio and video from St. Mary’s (Masses, Rosaries, Stations of the Cross, etc.) on our Facebook Page, which is going to be one of our central means of communication, so we would encourage you to sign up. Creating an account is easy to do! Follow these steps:
Parishioners have been inquiring about sending their weekly donations to us. The St. Mary Parish Community has a rich history for their expression of faith and generosity to the needy. We understand at this time that many of our parishioners are experiencing or are going to experience a difficult financial burden. Our Church would appreciate any monetary donation that you could afford at this time. (All contributions will be credited as normal.)
You may mail any contribution to us at the Parish Office, P.O. Box 780, Fishkill, NY 12524. If you have any questions, please call us (896-6400).
Your generous support, as always, is greatly appreciated.
God bless us all during these trying times and in the days ahead.
ACTS New York What is it? It’s a three day, three night Catholic lay retreat presented by men and women who have attended prior ACTS retreats, under the guidance of a Spiritual Director and sponsored by the Church of the Holy Name of Mary, in Croton on Hudson. The goals are to renew yourself spiritually, to strengthen your faith and its application in your daily life, and to create lasting and supportive friendships. Participants returns to their parish faith communities with a deeper love for each other and a desire to become more involved. The upcoming Men’s Retreat is scheduled for April 23-26 and the Women’s Retreat is scheduled for May 7-10. For more information, contact us at: [email protected] or call 214-3203.
Please consider a donation of the following items: crackers, spaghetti sauce, pancake mix, cold cereal and canned fruit and vegetables. A volunteer member will stop by the church on Monday morning as usual to pick up any donations, or items may be dropped off at the Food Pantry from 9 to 11:45AM, Monday through Friday. Thank you and may God bless you!
Qualified Charitable Distributions With recent changes to the tax law, it is more difficult to benefit from making charitable donations. However, there is an alternative for taxpayers age 70 ½ and over – it is called Qualified Charitable Distributions. When structured properly, a distribution from an IRA can be made directly to the charitable organization. The distribution is not taxed as income. For additional information, please contact your tax professional and ask about “bunching”.

Coronavirus and
Preventive Measures In light of the developments concerning the "community" spread of the Coronavirus in NY, the Archdiocese has been advised by Dr. Walid Michelen, Archcare's chief medical officer, along with the Cardinal, to upgrade our advisory measures to prevent transmission of COVID-19 as follows: - Holy Water Fonts to be cleaned regularly. - Sign of Peace should be exchanged without physical contact. - Distribution of the Precious Blood of Christ from the chalice to the faithful should be suspended at this time. - Given the frequency of direct contact with saliva in the distribution of Holy Communion on the tongue, every consideration should be made by each individual to receive the host reverently in open hands for now for the protection of all. - Ministers are reminded to use anti-bacterial solution before and after distribution of Communion. - Sickness is a valid reason not to attend Mass and other church gatherings. Anyone who is ill or has flu-like symptoms should be urged to stay home. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is broadcast on several television channels; the sick can make "spiritual communion" until they return to good health.
