January 2010 Newsletter FROM THE BOARD: JANUARY MEETING & ELECTIONS FOR BOARD OF DIRECTORS 2010 Don’t forget that the January HOA meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 19th, 7:00 pm at Ali Elmi’s home, 14121 SW Tewkesbury Drive. At that time we will be holding our elections for the 2010 Board of Directors. Please be sure and mark this on your calendar and plan to attend, if you cannot attend be sure to mail your ballot in before the 19th so that your vote will count. HOA CALENDAR OF EVENTS: Happy New Year: January 1 Board Meeting: January 19th - 7:00 pm HOMEOWNER ASSOCIATION DUES: You can prepay your homeowner association dues at anytime through out the year. It does not need to be in Janu- ary. When you prepay you’ll save $30. We have 65 people who already are prepaid for this year. It saves the cost of stamps, papers and ink. Please contact Diann, HOA Accounts Manager at [email protected], to setup your account. Just tell her what month you want to start prepaying your dues in and she will give you the amount to pay. REMINDER REGARDING JANUARY 2010 BALLOT MEASURE 67 This measure involves the corporate tax hikes the legislature enacted during its 2009 session. Petition signatures were gathered to let the voters decide. This is a reminder of how this tax measure will affect your Association. It is important for you as members of the Association to know how this measure will impact your Association and indirectly your pocket- book. First, the measure increases the minimum corporate tax from $10 to $150. Due to income from Clearwire this is not a major impact to our Association, however in addition to increasing the minimum it also increases the tax rate from 6.6% to 7.8%. This will increase the tax paid by our Association by approximately $85.00. Second, the annual payment to the Sec- retary of State has been increased from $50 to $100 a year. Again the Association will be required to pay the increased fee. This notice is simply how this tax measure affects your Association. You must decide how you will vote in January, 2010 when you receive your ballot. Regardless of how you vote - Please Vote!! YARD DEBRIS DISPOSAL It has been brought to the Board’s attention again that neighbors are disposing of yard debris in the green spaces. Please use your yard debris receptacles to get rid of your yard debris, leaves, grass etc., and not our green spaces.

NEIGHBORLY CONCERNS Now that summer is here more families are heading for the outdoors, doing lawn work, playing outside, having barbecues and summer get togethers. Which means more children will be playing on the private drives & streets, dog owners will be walking and playing with their dogs in and around the green space. And people will be going on vacation. In a perfect neighborhood we would all get along, but we all know that’s not always the case. So enjoy your parties and get togethers but remember to turn the music down at 10pm (Portland Ord. No. 139931). Make sure your children’s play equipment is not intruding on someone’s lawn or driveway. Share the green spaces and playground area and be respectful of each other. Our playground should be an area where our children feel safe to gather and play at. Let your neighbors know you are going on vacation especially if someone is taking care of your animals, so they will understand if dogs are barking and can actually help out if one accidently gets loose. Let’s all work together to make this a safe summer for all. PLAY AND HAVE FUN, BUT BE SAFE AND RESPECTFUL! Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

THANKS FOR HOA MOVIE NIGHTS

EVHOA would again like to thank Kevin Dinh for allowing the HOA to use his electronic equipment for our movie nights. We’ve had another great summer of movie nights and without his equipment and support they would not be possible. So thank you very much from your appreciative HOA.
