of each other. In practice, however, it is evident that, while

business relations do appreciate the strong specialties of

System Building

InfrastructureThe cluster Infrastructure comprises a number of companies with a focus on the design,

construction and maintenance of roads. The activities also involve the application

of road markings and the installation of street furniture. The companies have placed

high-quality asphalt products under their own brand names on the market.

CaribbeanThe companies in the Netherlands Antilles are focussed on road construction, maritime and

civil construction. Apart from the production of raw materials and building materials, the

cluster is also involved in property development. In Curaçao, raw materials are extracted for

construction purposes, agriculture and industry. Part of the minerals such as limestone,

lime-sand and phosphate are exported.


Property Development & BuildingThe companies in the cluster Property Development and Building are focussed on new

building construction and renovation. Carrying out their own or third-party developments,

the companies are active in residential building as well as in industrial building.

The sectors education, health care and recreation in particular are worth mentioning.

The companies in this cluster offer prefab building systems to facilitate large-scale,

flexible industrial building in steel or concrete. In addition to this, they are specialized

in structural detailing and in the development and installation of innovative aluminium

roofs. The high degree of flexibility has resulted in very diverse projects.

The activities of Property Development and Building

are carried out by two companies for the whole of the

Netherlands. Janssen de Jong Plancoördinatie is responsible

for property development. The company couples a clear

vision on living and working environments with technical

and commercial expertise. The qualities of the company are

exceptionally manifest in complex developments such

as urban redevelopment. Janssen de Jong Bouw covers the

entire building market from three business establishments,

focussing on new building construction, renovation and

maintenance. The substantial land positions placed in

Zuidgrond (50% participation) form an excellent basis for

further development.

The activities of the property developers are

specifically geared to the objectives of public authorities,

companies, private parties and housing associations.

These parties like doing business with Janssen de Jong on

account of the vast expertise that the company has

The cluster Infrastructure in the Southeast

Netherlands comprises Janssen de Jong Infra, Twentse Weg-

en Waterbouw and Asfaltfabriek Roermond. These companies

design, realize, develop and maintain infrastructures. Both

above ground and underground. Groundworks, sewerage,

cabling, pipe installation and asphalt, concrete or pavement

road surfacing. The companies are able to cover the full

width of the pathway from (urban) design to high-quality

asphalt such as Viaral®.

In addition, the companies carry out project-related

activities such as road marking, planting and noise protection

walls. The cluster Infrastructure can rely on its own asphalt

factory and the participation in an asphalt installation,

which enables the company to keep a firm grip on its quality

standards from the starting point to the final result and to

continue implementing innovations of its own. In this way,

these companies can contribute to the solution of actual

issues such as mobility, spatial planning and environmental

protection.

Four taut, well-trained bodies; a sleek

shell that took months of preparation;

Operates from business establishments in Horst

(North Limburg), Meerssen (South Limburg), Valkenswaard

(North Brabant), Andelst (Gelderland) and Breda (West

Brabant). Its strong focus on quality and client-related services

has won the Limburg based company the position of market

leader. The company already has a very strong position in

Brabant and the East Netherlands. Janssen de Jong Infra

presents very innovative solutions for the renovation of

asphalt roads. Vital links in these procedures are the asphalt

factory owned by the company in Roermond and the

participation in a factory in Enschede. Janssen de Jong Infra

works for public authorities and for the industrial sector.

The Twentse Weg- en Waterbouw has been working

for a large group of more or less regular clients for a very

long time. A clear indication that clients are not only

satisfied with the product but also with the planning, strategy,

realization, execution and completion of projects. This is

something for us to be proud of.

Asfaltfabriek Roermond produces, transports and

processes asphalt for the road construction market in nearly

the whole of the South Netherlands. The production takes

place in a state-of-the-art installation, realizing well over

200 standard mixtures. The factory has a well-equipped

laboratory at its disposal to perform quality controls of

asphalt and (secondary) raw materials; it also manages

a quality control office of its own for road testing.

In the Research & Development department, finally, new and

innovative products for road construction are developed.

They are top-sportsmen. Rulers of their

own home rowing course. Sharing their

insights, knowledge and materials to

improve their mutual achievements.

The cluster System Building consists of four

companies: Remco Ruimtebouw (with its Polish daughter

company Ocmer and Romanian daughter Remco Romania),

Hercuton, Hafkon and MAT. These four are experts in the

application of advanced prefab building methods to realize

large-scale, flexible industrial constructions in steel or concrete

in a very short time. They are also dominantly present in the

production and installation of aluminium roofing and they

handle very diverse projects concerning installation, finishings

and completion. The quality levels that these companies

realize in the execution of their projects are recognized all

over the Netherlands. And beyond the Dutch borders. Many

companies in Central and Eastern Europe and even as far as

Mexico, for instance, have chosen for the quality and

flexibility offered by the cluster System Building.

Remco Ruimtebouw and its subsidiaries Ocmer and

Remco Romania specifically covers all stages of the modular

realization of steel manufacturing spaces combined (if so

desired) with office space. Working with modules essentially

facilitates fast and efficient construction methods and the

export of complete business premises. Currently, Remco

Ruimtebouw is increasingly often asked to restyle and refit

existing business premises.

Hercuton is in the Netherlands unquestionably the

market leader in the application of prefab concrete elements

for the realization of manufacturing spaces. Nowadays,

however, these prefab elements are more and more often

used to realize office spaces as well. The company has

succeeded in maintaining its market position because of the

proven qualities of these materials and the short-term

construction periods.

Many architectural projects involve a search for the

right combination of quality and aesthetic issues.

Considering the options, one often selects aluminium roof

sheeting and facade cladding. Hafkon takes up a unique

position in this field of expertise, as it is able to supply

Kalzip® aluminium welted metal roofing in the Netherlands

on an exclusive basis. The company has accumulated a lot of

in-house expertise in the field of the application of these

durable and lightweight elements.

The abbreviation MAT stands for Moderne Afbouw

Technieken (modern structural detailing techniques).

The company’s name is a direct reference to its activities, as the

company and its sister company Mobouw (business enterprise

in building materials) offer cutting-edge solutions for large

and complex new construction and renovation projects.

MAT displays an unsurpassed quality in the realization of these

projects. MAT has been an active player in this market for a

very long time and by continuous investments in knowledge

development within the company, MAT has acquired a very

The activities of the Caribbean cluster are so diverse

that they can hardly be clustered. Yet, they have one

common denominator: they take place in the Netherlands

Antilles. There, overseas, Janssen de Jong Groep owns seven

companies operating within the complete chain. From the

production of raw materials and building materials to road

construction, maritime construction and civil construction.

For example in Curaçao, in the mine owned by

Janssen de Jong Groep, minerals are extracted for (road)

construction, agriculture and industry. Minerals such as

limestone, lime-sand and phosphate are also processed

in-house. At the other end of the spectrum, a company such

as Windward Roads is involved in activities including road

construction, cabling, piping and wiring and the production of

asphalt and concrete.

The Curaçaose Wegenbouwmaatschappij (Curaçao

Road Construction Company) plays an important role in the

development of the Curaçao infrastructure. Knowledge of

local production conditions, a broad expertise and high quality

requirements have made the company a market leader.

The company structurally invests in workforce and

equipment. All projects are completed in conformity with the

ISO 2002 directives.

The Bonairiaanse Wegenbouwmaatschappij

(Bonaire Road Construction Company) fulfills the same function

on Bonaire as the Curaçaose Wegenbouwmaatschappij on

Curaçao. Its activities range from standard infrastructures up

to and including the completion of special projects. The two

companies share their vast knowledge of local market

conditions and their workforces. Target groups are local

authorities as well as the private sector.

Harbour and Civil Construction Curaçao (HCCC) is

specialized in the realization of large maritime and civil

projects in the Carribean and the Netherlands Antilles. The

company was awarded the Curaçao Innovation Prize for its

innovative power.

Mijnmaatschappij Curaçao (Mining Company

Curaçao) extracts and exports various minerals such as

phosphate and limestone. The company has customers in the

whole area including Trinidad, (British) Guyana and

St. Martin. The Mijnmaatschappij plays a very important role

in the regional building industry.

Betonindustrie Brievengat (Concrete industry

Brievengat) has since 1966 been active in concrete on

Curaçao. Fully automized, the concrete factory produces

65 m3 of concrete per hour, which results in a daily production

of 500 m3. Brievengat is the largest and most modern

concrete industry on the island.

Especially among the middle classes, there is a

growing demand for private housing on Curaçao. Eigen

Woning Plan Curaçao (Private Housing Plan Curaçao)

responds to this demand by developing and realizing

housing construction projects in public/private collaboration.

A unique aspect of this housing plan is the 100% financing

arrangement for prospective house owners.

Windward Roads is market leader in infrastructure

on St. Martin. The company carries out asphalt projects as

well as cabling, piping and wiring projects. Windward Roads

is, like all Janssen de Jong companies, strongly embedded in

the local environment.
