JAMES 5 ‘GOD SAID’
13Is anyone among you suffering hardship? Let him pray. Is anyone
cheerful? Let him sing praises. 14Is anyone of you sick? Let him call
the elders of the church and let them pray over him, having
anointed him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15The prayer of faith
will save the one who is sick and the Lord will raise him up. If he
has committed any sin he will be forgiven. 16So confess your sins to
one another and pray for one another so that you can be healed.
The faithful prayer of a righteous man accomplishes great things. 17Elijah was a man like us and he prayed a prayer that it would not
rain and it didn’t rain for three and a half years. 18Then he prayed
again and the heaven gave rain and the earth caused fruit to
sprout. 19My brothers, if anyone among you is straying from the
truth and someone enables him to return, 20the one who turned
him back from the error of his ways will have saved his soul from
death and will have covered a multitude of sins.

BACKSLIDING
Treat people who turn from the faith with redemptive love –and relate to them in a way that will enable them to return to the path of following Jesus.
Checking it Out !
Making the presence of God the first port of call when you are experiencing hardship and suffering.
Honouring God by praising him when you are experiencing blessing.
Transparently mustering all the corporate faith you can get when you are sick.
Keep offering people a way back when they have let go of their faith in Christ.
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,And sorry I could not travel bothAnd be one traveler, long I stoodAnd looked down one as far as I couldTo where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,And having perhaps the better claimBecause it was grassy and wanted wear,Though as for that the passing thereHad worn them really about the same
And both that morning equally layIn leaves no step had trodden black.Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to wayI doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sighSomewhere ages and ages hence:Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,I took the one less traveled by,And that has made all the difference.
