also be explained at the beginning of the puja. The Digambar Jains
observe Das Lakshan Dharam Parva from the 5th day of Bhadra shukla
to the 14th day. This year Dash Lakshan Parva commences on 12th
septeber 2010 to 22nd September 2010. The Das lakshan parva is
celebrated for self purification. It is meant to adhere to the ten
universal virtues in practical life; and leads us on the right
path, far from the mad strife for material prosperity, which
ultimately leads us to our destination i.e. salvation . This is the
festival through which an attempt is made to put an end to all
vices, passions and lustful desires in thought, speech and action.
Dash Lakshan Parva is the Festival of Self-Enlistment by the Holy
Observation Of Ten Universal Virtue : 1) Supreme forgiveness
(Uttama Kshama Dharma), 2) Supreme tenderness or humility
(UttamaMardavDharma),supreme Honesty (Uttama Arjava Dharma), 3)
Supreme Honesty (Uttama Arjava Dharma) 4}Supereme Contentment or
purity ( Uttama Shaucha Dharma), 5) Supreme Truthfulness (Uttama
Satya Dharma), 6) Supreme Self-Restraint ( Uttama Sanyam Dharma),
7) Supreme Austerities or Penance (Uttama Tapa Dharma), 8) Supreme
renunciation (Uttama Tyaga Dharma), 9) Supreme non-Attachment
(Uttama Akinchanya Dharma), and 10) Supreme Chastity (Uttama
Brahmacharya Dharma).
