INTRODUCTION

In this introduction to construction industry’s final project, we are required to form in a group of 2 students to find a specific land in Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus area to initiate a small construction. The site we need to select for our construction site should not be more than 30mx30m. We should propose a project that serves one of the following purposes which is:

1. Recreation area 2. Study Enhancement Area 3. Rest area 4. Food and beverage (dining area) 5. Commercial area (exclude food and beverage)

We have decided to construct our site into a recreation area. We have selected the site 30mx30m which is free car park spaces beside Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus’s Syopz’s Mall. Our 30mx30m site also connected with part of lake.

SUGGESTION AND PROPOSAL

For this project, we decided to propose a recreational area. This recreational area can be visit by students during day and night times. It is cover with a lot of greens example like trees, flowers and grass. This recreational area also for student to hang out and chill just like another example of Syopz’s Mall.

INTRODUCTION TO THE SITE

Basically our site is an area located in Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus. The location of Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus is No.1 Jalan Taylor’s 47500 Subang Jaya Selangor Darul Ehsan.

These are the closer views of our site. As you can see the cars are parking on the muddy and rocky roads.

This is the view of the site from library.

The site is a parking spaces which need

to pay for entry.

Page 8: Introduction to construction industry final project (project brief)

Our site is an area beside Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus’s Syopz Mall. Our site is include the free car park spaces and some parts of the 5.5 hectares man-made lake. The approximate measurement of the car park area only is 500mx800m. 1/3 of our site will be the parts of lake and 2/3 will be the car park spaces.

SITE ANALYSIS

We had observed that our site conditions is always under a hot sunny sun which cause the students sweat a lot when they going up or off from their cars to the campus. This is because the site has a very less amount of trees and plants to cold the weather or as a shelter to cover the area.

The wind strength at our site is average because it does have a lot of tress and only an empty spaces. Sometimes the wind will be strong when the sign of rain is coming.

Page 9: Introduction to construction industry final project (project brief)

The road in our site is not in a good condition because it full of rocks and sand which have a rough and uneven surface and it may damage the vehicles tires. The worst feeling happen when the strong wind blew and the sand on the site fly and cause students eyes uncomfortable.

There is no places example like shelter for students to rest under a hot sun.

Concept

The concept of the recreational area is part of the lake and part of the ground. The part of the lake allowed students to have fishing activities. The recreational area will create a platform there.

Page 12: Introduction to construction industry final project (project brief)

The ground of the recreational area is made in grass floor which allowed students to sit on it for resting or having some activities on the grass floor. It also a place for students to relax.

Gazebo is the most common structure you can see in every park but in this recreational area you can see a shelter provided BBQ equipment for students to have BBQ there.

THE OVERALL CONCEPT

THE PURPOSE AND BENEFITS OF THE SITE

The purpose and benefits to create this recreational park is to make the area more greenish instead of it just like an unprotected area become a car park spaces before this. Since Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus have a large amount of students and the study or revision areas are limited so this recreational area is create for students to have their discussions or works at here. This also a good place for students to enjoy and relax. Here also can release their stress with the good environment and fresher air which surround with a lot of greens. Students also can have some activities in this recreational area. They can sit on the grass floor which is a new life style to have their revision and study. The most interesting activity in this recreational park is there is a lake for fishing. There is also

These are the wooden fences will be used to surround the platform and lake area.

CONCLUSION

In a conclusion, we know to build a recreation area within Taylor's Lakeside University is not that easy, because we have think a lot and plan a lot before we start the construction. For example the air pollution, the sound pollution will affect the students studying and etc. Meanwhile, we built a recreation area which can provide a better place for students to enjoy themselves while studying. We also provide some activity inside the recreational area. We hope student will like and enjoy it. Lastly, we hope that this construction will get approve by Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus as soon as possible. This will be a recreational area which might not be appeared in others Universities or Colleges.
