Distortions of images mostly fall into the following categories

Deliberate falsifying of pictures - boy run over by car

Page 13: International Umbrella for Volunteer Israel Advocacy Groups C o H a V Coalition of Hasbara Volunteers.

International Umbrella for Volunteer

The image leaves no doubt – witness the unprovoked brutality of the Israelis against the innocent Palestinian

Note the background – a filling station…

two cars – fully grown trees

Images can be powerful…… but appearances can nevetheless be deceptive

“We see things not as THEY are but as WE are……..” Therefore…….. if he bleeds, he MUST be Palestinian.

*Meet John Smith, a British student

*John gets fliers on campus from radical political groups

*John goes to the web to do his own research

*If the fliers were about “Israeli Apartheid” or “Zionism” his private research will re-enforce the fliers

*He is now more likely to believe it after forming his own opinion based on his research

Israel Advocacy Groups

The PA has stopped all cooperation with Israel on water issues.

In addition the PA :-

Does not treat their sewage (Israel treats 75% of the waste water for agriculture, aiming for 90% by 2015)

Is not developing new water resources available to them

Has allowed of 300 illegal wells to be dug in the West Bank

Close to 30% of water is lost due to the illegal drillings, evaporation and leakages (for info Israel loses 10%)

Do the Palestinians Really Want a 2 – State Solution??

Hamas in Gaza: 'Palestine means Palestine in its entirety, and Israel cannot exist in our midst'  - Fri. 29 Jul.

•Hamas foreign minister Al-Zahar reiterates Hamas' rejection of two-state solution and commitment to gaining 'Palestine in its entirety' by force. He also declared that Hamas would view any Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank, or a compromise agreement with the Palestinian Authority, as only a 'first stage' towards the destruction of Israel in its entirety. 'At this moment in time, we say to you, first of all: We want Palestine in its entirety - so there will not be any misunderstandings. If our generation is unable to achieve this, the next one will, and we are raising our children on this. Palestine means Palestine in its entirety, and Israel cannot exist in our midst.'

“Normalization in sport a burning issue”[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 21, 2011]

Headline: “The street and the [sports] association oppose normalization [with Israel], emphasizing: There are rules to raising the flag of Palestine” “The normalization tournament in Canada [with Israel] has created a strong outcry on the Palestinian street, with the publication of the details of the football match in forum discussions on the Internet and photographs showing participation by Palestinian girl players in a match alongside Israeli girl players. This has caused agitation and anger on the Palestinian street when it comes to such games… Abd Al-Majid Hujjah, Secretary-General of the Palestinian Football Association, announced that the Association intends to appoint an investigative committee to look into the circumstances of participation by groups of girl players in a normalization encounter with Israelis in Canada. He emphasized that the investigative committee will submit its recommendations prior to legal steps being taken against the players. Hujjah said that the position of the Palestinian Football Association on the issue of normalization [with Israel] in sports is well-known already, having been publicized, officially, on more than one occasion. This position has been disseminated among everyone involved and it rules out any contact by the Palestinian Football Association with any activity related to the Israeli side.” [Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 21, 2011]

Palestinian Mufti, Muhammad Hussein: Jesus taught Islam not Christianity

"We're talking about an ongoing chain [of prophets of Islam], from Adam to Muhammad, representing the call for monotheism and the mission of Islam… The prophets were all of the same religion [Islam]… [e.g.] Jesus was born in this land in Bethlehem… He also lived in Nazareth, moved to Jerusalem, so he was a Palestinian… We respect Jesus, we believe in him [as a prophet of Islam], just as we believe in the Prophet Muhammad.“ [PA TV (Fatah) April 21, 2009]

Israel Advocacy GroupsMahmoud Habbash, Minister of Religion:"Allah has preordained for us the Ribat (religious war) on this blessed land. We are committed to it by Allah’s command. Let no one be mistaken or under the illusion that Ribat (religious war) is a choice and nothing more. It is a commandment that necessitates hardship and requires the person to rush to fulfill this command. If Allah has chosen you for Ribat on the land of Ribat, you, the choicest of God’s servants, then this is an honor. The enemy is patient, it is waiting for the nation to collapse. The struggle over this land is not merely a struggle over a piece of land here or there. Not at all. The struggle has the symbolism of holiness, or blessing. It is a struggle between those whom Allah has chosen for Ribat and those who are trying to mutilate the land of Ribat."[PA TV (Fatah), Feb. 12, 2010]
