At sanef, we have been using FCD information since 2010

We have used FCD historic data for traffic studies To understand specific traffic situation Study mean travel time Measure traffic jam intensity

Can be used in before and after studies e.g. : to evaluate the impact of a traffic management

measure like variable speed limits e.g. : to evaluate the impact of replacing toll booth by free flow

tolling

Automatic generation of traffic indicators (congestion length, lost time, space/time diagram …)

3 main advantages for using FCD information FCD has definitely become a reliable source of

information for traffic studies

FCD quality is now mature enough for real time traffic monitoring and travel time calculation

FCD main advantage consists in being available almost anywhere, anytime without infrastructure deployment
