About IIP The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) is a national apex

body set up in 1966 by the packaging and allied industries and the Ministry of Commerce, Government of

India, with the specific objective of improving the packaging standards in the country. The Institute is an autonomous body working under the administrative

control of the Ministry of Commerce. On the 14th of May 2015, IIP commenced its year-long golden jubilee celebrations with the addition of new exclusive Technological Innovation facilities to their

sprawling campus in Mumbai. They also laid the foundation stone for a student’s hostel.

The event was graced by the Hon. Governor of Maharashtra, Chief Guest Sh. Ch.Vidyasagar Rao, Sh. Rajani Ranjan Rashmi,

Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.Padma Vibhushan Dr. R.A.Mashelkar, scientist innovator and

chairperson of the Swach Bharat Abhiyan delivered a keynote address.

Laying of foundation stone for the new students’ hostel

The foundation stone for the new students’ hostel was laid in the premises of the IIP by the honorable Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Shri R.R Rashmi.

Shri.Ch. Vidyasagar Rao, Governor of Maharashtra, congratulated the institute and said, “To my knowledge, very few students are aware of the career opportunities in packaging. I would urge the Indian Institute of Packaging to work closely with traditional universities and create awareness.”
