Moving Knight

What do they represent?The images tell the story and show more emotion the longer the song goes on. I think that this knight symbolises and shows the emotion that Adele is feeling.

What effect do the images have?At the start you can see a plain knight standing in white dust, but throughout you see him show more movement and emotion. At the end he is standing with his knife and the room is covered in dust.

Glasses filled with water

What do they represent?The glasses do not really have any relevance to the lyrics or song, apart from one shot. The image of the glasses are shown when Adele sings, ‘finally, I can see you crystal clear’. That’s really the only relevance these shots have.

What effect do the images have?Not a lot, they are only relevant one time, but show, (by the water), the beat of the song.

Drummer

What do they represent?Mainly, I think the drummer represents the anger that Adele feels. She starts off slowly and calm and the drummer does not play. Once she starts to sing stronger and more powerful the drummer then kicks in.What effect do the images have?The images help us relate to how Adele is feeling. When the drummer hits his drums and symbols we know that the song is moving more upbeat and Adele’s vocals are becoming louder and stronger.

Structure of a town/city

What do they represent?At the first sight of this town or city you are a bit unsure of what it represents. However, as the fire starts to come in we can understand that the town may represent the pain in Adele’s life, and the fire is implies that she has had enough and that she’s over it.What effect do the images have?The images tell the story, so that we can relate and understand what all the images mean. Without these images the story and song is hard to understand and interpret.

What do they represent?The smashing of the cups, plates etc represent the anger Adele feels. What effect do the images have?The images help us to relate the anger that Adele feels. Without the images we only have Adele’s voice to help us interpret the song. The images give us a strong understanding that Adele is singing with anger and unhappiness.
