caricom development fund | logo & tagline development

logo & tagline development [tender]caricom development fund (cdf)

imogen design studio (ids) responded to the caricom development fund’s open tender by creating a logo and tagline that projected the mandate of the cdf, working with caribbean countries to develop their people, their communities and their industries, through investment, training and infrastructure.

after reviewing the terms of reference sent by the organisation, and reviewing other regional & international ngo’s and development organisations, ids felt the route to go was unconventional; to create a fresh, modern logo highlighting key elements of the cdf mandate. the colours were chosen to depict a regional rather than a country specific theme, and the tagline was developed based on the key aspects of cdf as well as our vision for how they could assist the region.

while our logo was not chosen, we felt it was a strong option to depict in a non-traditional way the focus of the cdf.

logo & mascot development [art & craft expo]minstry of tourism (Barbados)

looking to market and showcase Bajan art, craft and cuisine in a series of expos targeted at both the public and tourists, at various open air venues.

our option was focused on the concept of an occasion for all things Bajan and the name ‘a Bajan occasion’ was coined. along with the title a mascot design was create based on the ‘Bajan green monkey’ as it is locally known. the correct species name is ‘vervet’ and the name verve was chosen for this fact, and also to encapsulate the enthusiasm and vigor that keeps Bajan enterprise alive.

the vision for verve was to have him as an element of the logo that could be depicted performing different functions in arts, craft and cuisine and to have him animated to give the brand personality.

the tender winning option (not ours) was titled the ‘Bajan pride exposition,’ shown at left.

BarBados entrepreneurship foundation | $20 challenge

$20 challenge logo and Brand elementsBarbados entrepreneurship foundation (Bef) the Bef approach imogen design studio to design for the successful model of a youth entrepreneurship development programme in england, being implemented in Barbados.

They wanted something that reflected a fresh, Bajan identity, that would appeal to the 14-15 year old demographic that the project was targeted to, while reflecting the BEF’s mandate for the project.

The brand was to be reflected through the logo, website, logbook for students to track their progress as well as a certificate of completion at the end of the month-long process.

Before embarking on the project, ids analyzed the ‘tenner tycoon’ campaign, upon which the $20 challenge was based, to see it’s strengths and reinterpret them for the local market.

logo developmentthe elton group (of companies

for technology based group of companies, the elton group, the challenge was to find a logo that was simple, had it’s own identity, but did not overshadow the identity of the firms within the group; West Learner & 246 Cell Directories.

after researching group logos, and with the client’s stated vision above in mind, we found that the main elements were the e & g, and instead of creating a new graphic symbol to represent the group, making it a third over powering identity, ids decided to create a letter form log, fusing the e & g to create a simple, modern logo option that communicated the elton group’s identity.

london designs | Branding & advertising design

Branding & advertising designlondon designs with the theme ‘everything english and elegant’ nicole eastmond came to imogen design studio with the mandate of developing the brand for her boutique that offered clothing to match the theme.

Bringing this boutique to market, we first looked at what other boutiques were providing to gauge what the competition was doing. next we research symbols that would encapsulate her theme for the brand, and what encapsulated english style and elegance.

Bringing back a ‘blast from the past’ icon, and a symbol of the regal era of england and Barbados, the phone booth logo was conceptualized, reminiscent of a ‘little england’ spin on the old concept of superman changing in the phone booth.

as part of the branding, a concept of having a red phone booth built in-store as an entrance or changing room was presented to the client, but not developed due to budget restraints.

logo redesignfinancial consulting services inc

finding a different way to convey what is already there is key to a logo redesign; especially when the client is attached to what once was. We first encountered Financial consulting services inc while working on the small Business association’s member discount Booklet for 2010. our original charge was to design an ad for the booklet centred on their corporate colours. after seeing the ad that we produced we were approached to revamp the existing logo, and it was a welcome challenge. But the client was clear; the globe had to stay. the general format of the logo had to remain the same, but it was to be modernized.

the logo was stripped down to its basic elements; the globe, the acronym, and the name of the company. redundancies were removed - the name was stated three times when only one was needed. A more modern globe was chosen and simplified, keeping with mies van der rohe’s ‘less is more’ principle.

the result? the logo is fresher, simpler and cleaner. the colours are retained but are more vibrant. most importantly, while the logo has been overhauled, there is a clear relationship between the old and the new.

album artwork - goddess wildindrani As colourful as Indrani herself, the album artwork is to reflect her fun-loving, playful nature.

having furnished imogen design studio (ids) with the photos, a design concept was created after listening to indrani’s music and observing her personality, as well as looking into album artwork for artists of a similar style.

some of indrani’s own colourful artwork was incorporated into album artwork, and gave IDS a spring board to work from, to create the final artwork.
