Abstract:

In this research paper we address the importance of Product Data Management (PDM) with

respect to its contributions in industry. We also present PDM Systems in brief and highlight

some of major challenges to the PDM communities in advance PDM system development.

Targeting some of these challenges we present an approach and discuss how this approach can

be helpful in solving the PDM challenges. Limiting the scope of this research to one challenge,

we focus on the implementation of a semantic based search mechanism in PDM Systems. Going

into the details, at first we describe the respective fields i.e. Semantic Web and Language

Technology (LT), contributing in ontology construction and natural language grammar

implementation, to take advantage in implementing a search engine capable of understanding the

semantic output of natural language based search queries. Then we discuss how we can

practically take advantage of LT by implementing its concepts in the form of software

application with the use of semantic web technology i.e. Ontology. Later, in the end of this

research paper, we briefly present the prototype application developed with the use of concepts

of LT and Semantic web.

ABSTRACT:

The study examined the influence of emotional intelligence on academic self-efficacy and

achievement. The participant in the study were 150 undergraduate students at Shiraz in the

Shiraz City(Iran). Their age ranged between 18 to 20years with mean age of 19 years. Two valid

and reliable instruments were used to assess emotional intelligence and academic self-efficacy

while participants 12th Annual marks were used as a measure of academic achievement.

Descriptive statistics, Parsons product moment correlation and hierarchical regression analysis

were used to analyze the data. The result demonstrated that emotional intelligence and academic

self-efficacy significantly co-related with academic achievement. On the basis of findings, it is

suggested that emotional intelligence should be integrated into undergraduate curriculum

Key words: emotional intelligence, academic self-efficacy, academic achievement, curriculum

ABSTRACT:

Online education courses follow the same principles of teaching and testing as classes and books,

they offer more features to enhance the retention of the material, often at a less expensive cost.

Online education is a combination of learning services and technology to provide high value

integrated learning, anytime, anyplace, and anywhere.

In online education, students are no longer restricted to locally available courses and programs.

This is particularly beneficial to rural students who might not otherwise have access to

specialized courses that can enhance their career readiness.

This paper concentrates on the online education scenario in Indian rural area, scope of online

education, online education tools, benefits of online education, and future of online education. A

few suggestions have been made to use online education for informal and vocational training,

which is highly effective for a developing country like India where a majority of population is

living in rural areas and has received almost negligible formal education.

KEYWORD: E-learning, Online education, Rural area, Technology-delivered instruction, Web-

Abstract:

The effectiveness of software project management is dependent on multi-disciplinary,

interrelated factors including the management of project scope, project time, project cost, project

quality, project human resource, project communication, project procurement and project

integration. The development process for modern software’s has become a solid engineering

paradigm rather than a social activity. In this regard the project management for software

development has become one of the most leading areas of interest. An affective project

management and development methodology can lead to successful high quality software. In this

research paper a critical review has been presented about the modern practices being under used

for software project management. The paper point outs the different critical aspects of the

software project management causing high impacts on software development and on the society

itself. A large number of co-related project management aspects with their impacts have been

critically analyzed for further active research work for exposing new methodologies for

managing the project activities.

Keywords: Critical Aspects of Project Management, Roles of Project Manager, Project

Management, Software Project Management, and Software Development.

Abstract:

In lieu of a profound research interest on the growth pattern of financial commitment and

deployment of large scale monetary resources on Information Technology within organisations,

Information and Communication Technology personnel and strategic planners are increasingly

demanded to rationalise investments on IC-Technology enabled solutions. This is to cite that,

there is a notion that corporations not only maximise the profits of embracing IC-Technology but

also can avoid many inherent and non systemic risks (Political, Economical Social, and Cultural)

that are an offshoot of rapid technological transformation.

This research is framed within the present trends in strategic management of IC-Technology –

with a keen objective to maximise IC-Technology advantages. The study is based on a recent

pilot study of a focus group of a number of organisations representing various industries as part

of a larger study to understand the key relationships among Supply Chain Management, IC-

Technology and Strategic Planning. This study is limited to the IC-Technology review and looks

at latest developments in the adoption of (and financial investment on) IC-Technology - which

has yielded in an ever-increasing focus on the patterns in which IC- Technology solutions are

ideated for and embraced.

In the background of a brief review of ideation approaches, the study outlines many of the pilot

study yields that were mentioned earlier. Initial results indicated that on the normative, many

organisations did not adopt a formal procedure for strategic planning for and the governance of

IC-Technology initiatives.

Key Words: Technology Management, Strategic Management and Planning, SCM, IC-

Technology.

ABSTRACT:

Clustering has been widely used in many applications including data mining, pattern

recognition and machine learning. Noise is a major problem in cluster analysis, which degrades

the performance of many existing methods. This paper is aimed at solving noise problems in data

clustering.

Many existing clustering algorithms are sensitive to the presence of outliers. In this

paper, a new robust operator is developed to attack this problem, namely the modified l2 norm.

There are many merits in using this new measure. No sensitiveuser-defined parameter is needed

for this measure and it automatically assigns a small weight to the sample, which is far away

from the cluster center. It is robust to outliers and has a theoretical 50% breakdown point. It can

be solved without using an exhaustive search and can be extended to more general prototype, for

example curve. We have tested this method with four synthetic and three real world datasets.

Experiment results show that the method yields better results than other clustering algorithms.

Abstract:

Cyber Crimes, or crimes perpetrated using digital technology and infrastructure, are rapidly

growing problem. Yet digital evidence can be tied to more conventional crimes, so helping both

police administrations, corporate executives and the public understand cyber complexities is

important. Various types of offenses under Computer crimes also reflect the extent to which

computers have entered our lives. Our research is about a variety of issues including their levels

of experience and training, their job functions, and the problems they experience in their day –to

–day work. We find that the largest organization world-wide dedicated to the advancement of

training education and information sharing information between law enforcement and corporate

ABSTRACT:

In many real-world applications, there are a number of dimensions having large

variations in a dataset. The dimensions of the large variations scatter the cluster and confuse the

distance between two samples in a dataset. This degrades the performances of many existing

algorithms. This problem can be happened even when the number of dimensions of a dataset is

small. Moreover, no existing method can distinguish whether the dataset has the highly repeated

problem or low-density’s problem. The only way to distinguish the problem is by a prior

knowledge, which is given by the user.

There are many methods to resolve this type of high dimensionality problem. The

common way is to prune the non-significant features so that the features having large variations

are removed and high-density cluster centers are obtained. Much research work has been carried

out based on this criterion. The subspace clustering method is one of the well-known tools. The

feature space is first partitioned into a number of equal length grids. Then, the density of each

interval is measured. The features having low density are discarded and the clustering is

conducted on the high density regions. Although these methods work very well on synthetic

datasets, the pruned dimensions can carry useful information and hence, pruning them may

increase the classification error rates.

Abstract:

As and when Merger and acquisition comes to a discussion, financial aspects will take a lead and

less will be the humanitarian approach. By understanding this fact there are considerable

research work which started focusing on this humanitarian side along with several research

works on financial aspects. This paper tries to review the literatures in analyzing the major

problems that is being raised due to cultural integration which may become a major basis for

failure of merger and acquisition. Paper further tries to assess the role of leadership in managing

this cultural assimilation which paves the way for successful merger and acquisition with special

reference to transformational leadership.

Abstract:

Software development life cycle is the process of developing a software project using some

activities. These activities include Requirements gathering, Specification, Designing, Coding,

Testing and Maintenance, etc. This paper describes improvements in the software development

life cycle models. A new approach for the customers’ satisfaction is described. In this approach

team will stay with the customer till the support period. When customer demands for

maintenance then a lot of time is wasted in tasks such as requesting for maintenance, calling

individual from organization, make him understand about request, then their response time etc.

So a new approach is required which can decrease the maintenance time of project. The paper

describes a new model for software development. This model concentrates towards providing the

service online. It means team will stay online with the customer till the support period.

Requesting and response time is reduced and customer can feel a good deal with the

organization.

ABSTRACT:

This case is about YVU Microfin, an MFI (Micro Finance Institution) which has been engaged in

Micro Finance activities for the last 15 years. Manipur is an industrially backward state having

more than 70% people living in rural areas and most of them depending on Government Services

for means of livelihood. There is no such scope of private sector in the state which can provide

job as a means of livelihood. People have to depend on other activities like agriculture,

handloom, handicrafts, weaving and dairy as means of earning of earning for their livelihood.

However, activities other than agriculture have also not been doing well due to certain social

factor in the past few years. The people have no other options but to start up their new small

business like grocery shops, vegetable vendors and other various small businesses as a means of

earning. For this they need financial supports. But the economic condition of the state is very

worse. The sources of finances are very less for such initiatives and they are not willing to

provide finance very easily. In light of the above facts, YVU Microfin has taken up some

initiatives like formation of SHGs and extending micro credit facilities to provide a means of

livelihood for different groups of people through its microfinance activities.

This case focuses on the strategic initiatives taken up by YVU Microfin to provide a means of

livelihood for the various people of the state. This case is also aimed at capturing the dynamics

of strategic management of YVU Microfin.

ABSTRACT:

Many algorithms have been proposed for detecting video shot boundaries and classifying shot

and shot transition types. Here we are using two different methods for comparison, using GIST1,

Color Histogram. Color histogram method draws the histogram for the frames and detects shot

comparing these histograms but this is sensitive to illuminance and motion while the GIST uses

two different properties of the video i.e color and gist for the detection of the shots. The aim of

this paper is to make a comparison between two of the well-known methods used for detecting

video shot boundaries. Firstly various methods are described in the preceding sections then a

comparison is made about it. This paper shows that the GIST method produces good result over

the other method.

Abstract:

With the exponential development in technology, there is always the danger that the equilibrium

between technology and learning is disturbed. But Mobile Learning or short M-Learning creates

completely new possibilities in learning. M-Learning creates completely new learning scenarios

For example, a lecture about the unique architectural design of a building could take place at the

building itself. This creates an entirely new learning experience This paper discusses the place of

M-Learning as Part of E-Learning and D-Learning Relationships between D-, E-, and M-

Learning It also critically investigates the potentials of M-Learning while examining the positive

and negative effects of M-Learning for learners. Furthermore, it will investigate what kind of

learners may and may not benefit from M-learning.

This paper also discusses how M-Learning can support classical learning and some M-learning

practices that are in different sectors such as corporate, university and military have been

mentioned This paper is a review of M-learning literature for understanding and discussion of

current perspectives and theories in mobile learning

In the end the paper describes issues and special care needed when designing learning material

with the mobile devices in mind.

Abstract:

The purpose of a GIS is to provide both the individual and organization with increased

knowledge and understanding of spatial data. Often GIS users overlook the ‘decision making’

capability these systems can provide, instead, focusing on the presentation. GIS information can

become increasingly more valuable for decision making when coupled to artificial intelligence

(AI). Artificial intelligence has evolved in recent years to the point that many applications can be

run using desktop computing – thus within reach of many GIS professionals. When linked to

GIS, artificial intelligence can be useful for evaluating, monitoring and decision-making. Neural

networks, fuzzy logic, nanotechnology and evolutionary computation and others are directed

toward decision-making functionality. In the case of artificial neural networks (ANN),

computing methodologies are being used to simulate how the human brain processes spatial data

problems. It is anticipated that many future spatial applications will incorporate elements of

artificial intelligence. These networks have many potential applications in GIS including; land

use, oceanography, forestry, consumer movement, transportation, bio-sphere studies, image

analysis, environmental, entertainment, anti-terrorism, pattern analysis and health. In this paper

we will briefly describe ANN, discuss the relationship of ANN to GIS and the benefits of their

integration to environment management.
