Before he was Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, Freddy Krueger or his drag alter ego Cotton, Michael Venus was a skinny boy who lived somewhere in between rural Southern Ontario and the kingdom of his own astonishing imagination… The portrait-based project that includes over 50 images, originally came into existence as a postcard series called VanGlam in 2000, is something of a time capsule, says Venus. It’s a reference to the influences that shaped him as an artist.
