Sentiments from Susan

“Wow.” I get thrilled just thinking of the beauty the earth is

bringing this spring! As your bulbs break open, take notes,

place labels to recall what colors you have and hues you may

wish to add next fall. No spring bulbs in your garden? In

autumn, GET some, please. They bring such joy with no work

once you’ve placed them. In the meantime, try some spring &

summer flowering bulbs to fill in where perennials, past their

prime, leave a color void in your gardens. Put some cannas in

pots placed about. Dare something a dab different…“Have

fun.” Free flowers? Pick some Forsythia branches if you have

a shrub, place in a vaseof water and watch them sprout and

flower. When your Forsythia blooms outside, it is time to

uncover your roses.

A Blessed and Happy Easter to you all. .

April Gardening Tips From Pesche’s

1. Do a soil test to determine what amendments you plant beds need.

2. Add 1 to 2 inches of good quality compost to your planting beds this

spring. We recommend Back to Nature products Cotton Burr Compost and Compost Blend.

3. Cut ornamental grasses, Lavender, Russian Sage down to 6” & fertilize

4. Pot stored cannas, begonias, caladium, and dahlias at this time. Set them near a furnace vent.

5. Bring out potted perennials from winter storage, water well and place away from wind.

6. Set Peony rings when stems are 12” tall and remove side buds from larger main blooms

April 14 from 9:30am to 12pm.
