SignalCalc turbo – Success Continues with turbomachinery manufacturers

Major turbomachinery manufacturers continue to select SignalCalc Turbo for both factory test and field service applica-tions. Turbomachinery manufacturers are using SignalCalc Turbo in the factory for making measurements and generat-ing customer reports on the test stand. Ease-of-use and the ability to employ both project and advanced reporting tem-plates make SignalCalc Turbo a great fit for the factory environment. These manufacturers also have global field service organizations that require advanced portable machinery diagnostics systems for vibration analysis and troubleshooting their installed base of rotating equipment at end-user industrial facilities. The flexible and straightforward setup, along with efficient navigation for quick display of results, make SignalCalc Turbo a great tool for field services teams.

To meet these needs, a number of key major turbomachinery manufacturers are now using multiple SignalCalc Turbo systems within their organizations. Given the width and breadth of these large global companies, we can now leverage existing SignalCalc Turbo systems within these organizations and push for standardization on SignalCalc Turbo and other Data Physics applications such as Dynamic Signal Analysis for impact hammer testing/modal analysis.

A few major companies which employ multiple SignalCalc Turbo systems:

tECo Westinghouse. TECO Westinghouse vibration specialists based at the Round Rock, Texas USA manufacturing facility em-ploy SignalCalc Turbo for factory tests as well as troubleshooting vibration issues on equipment installed at customer facilities. Coupled with SignalCalc Turbo, TECO Westinghouse also employs Data Physics Dynamic Signal Analyzer applications for impact hammer testing/modal analysis and general FFT purposes. With operations in the USA, Taiwan, and Malaysia, TECO Westinghouse is a premier supplier of AC and DC motors and generators.

Siemens. Siemens employs SignalCalc Turbo systems at facilities based in the UK and Germany. SignalCalc Turbo is used in both factory test and field service applications. Siemens is major international technology company based in Germany, and one of the largest suppliers of steam and gas turbine power generation equipment in the world.

Solar turbines. Solar Turbine’s Field Service the southern USA has been standardizing on SignalCalc Turbo systems for trouble-shooting equipment at customer end-user facilities. A subsidiary of Caterpillar, Inc., Solar Turbines manufactures mid-range gas turbine and centrifugal compressors primarily for Oil and Gas production and pipeline transmission applications. Solar Turbines gas turbines are also used as drivers by the power generation in-dustry. Solar Turbines operates their factory headquarters in the USA and has a global field services organization.

Sulzer. Sulzer field services in the USA and a major factory facility in Leeds, UK employ SignalCalc Turbo systems. Sulzer is a major international technology company based in Switzerland with many specialties including industrial pumps and gas turbines.

Alstom Power. Alstom in the USA and France also use SignalCalc Turbo sys-tems for both factory high speed balancing facility and field service applica-tions. Alstom is a major international technology company based in France with a major focus on large power generation machinery. Alstom also has major fa-cilities in Switzerland (formerly ABB). Acquisition of Alstom by General Electric is pending.

Turbomachinery manufacturers are especially strategic customers for several reasons. Because these companies are global organizations with multiple service centers and field services groups, the opportunities for sales of large numbers of addi-tional systems are plentiful. Also, in the course of applying SignalCalc Turbo to making measurements on turbomachinery, most of these manufacturers promote SignalCalc Turbo to their industrial end-user customers who witness application of SignalCalc Turbo to making measurements and solving problems. This creates sales opportunities with those end-user companies desiring to bring vibration analysis capability “in house”.
