    The HematoFlow Cellular Analysis Solution

Combining our Flow Cytometryand Hematology Technology.

Hematology laboratories, the world over, are being pressured to improve productivity, decrease turnaround

time (TAT) and reduce costs . You asked and we listened. By combining our hematology and flow cytometry

technology to characterize abnormal WBC populations, the hematology laboratory is offered a unique

automated solution. This combination of Beckman Coulter technologies is known as HematoFlow. Samples

with abnormal WBC results are first identified using one of our hematology analyzers. Then using our FC

500 Flow Cytometer with CytoDiff, a ready-to-use cocktail, composed

of six monoclonal antibodies, in five colors, those abnormal WBC

samples are characterized into nine distinct populations.

Why is this beneficial to the hematology laboratory?

You get all of these advantages:

Lab technologists can focus on other tasks

    Automated flow differential

    Accurate and standardized results

    Simple, paperless process

    Precise (>20k cells)

    9 cell populations

    Auto-verification via decision rules

    Faster turnaround time

    Surety vs Screening

Manual differentials are performed on an average of 100 to 200 cells. Using the CytoDiff reagent in conjunction

with the Beckman Coulter FC 500 Flow Cytometer, over 20,000 cells can automatically be characterized. Accurate and precise results

Increased reliability and decreased subjectivity of the data

Provides a differential for even the most difficult cases

    (leukopenic samples)

    Standardization

Performing a manual differential can often be time consuming and subjective. By automating this processwith the CytoDiff reagent, standardization is now available for hematology labs everywhere.

    Improved Efficiency

The exclusive Beckman Coulter algorithms automatically identify and enumerate multiple cell populations. This dramatically increases the reliability of your results, and reduces the need for manual gating andinterpretation.

    Unique Cellular Solutions

The CytoDiff reagent yields an automated 9-part cytometric differential. It provides the traditional 5-partdifferential with the addition of immature granulocytes and blasts. Lymphoblasts are subdivided into T andB cell blasts. Non-T blasts, non-B blasts and plasma cells are classified into their own category calledother abnormal cells.

    Information System

    (LIS)

Samples are routinely analyzed on theUniCel DxH 800 or LH 700 SeriesHematology Analyzer.

Normal CBC results are automaticallytransmitted to the LaboratoryInformation System (LIS) via the datamanager.

Abnormal RBC results areinvestigated by microscope.

For abnormal WBC results, the datamanager automatically requests areflex CytoDiff test, which promptssample preparation for CytoDiffanalysis.

The CytoDiff-prepared sample is thenanalyzed on the Beckman Coulter FC500 Flow Cytometer.

The result is then transmitted to thedata manager and matched to thepatients original hematology result(s).

Final results are transmitted to thelaboratorys LIS.
