YEAR 13 CHEMISTRY SPHINX VISIT The Y13 Chemistry students had a successful Academic visit to Sphinx pharmaceuticals on15th of January 2016, in the company of their subject tutor, Mr. Mwikamba. They were taken through a number of areas, which include production of different drugs for human and animal consumption, the high standards of hygiene and the quality of the drugs produced, careers and Business opportunities in the Chemical industry.

YEAR 9 VISIT TO THE GOETHE INSTITUTE

It was very beneficial to their German because, they watched a movie in German and learnt a lot of new vocabulary from it. They also played some games in German, which were interesting and helped their vocabulary. They looked in their library which had a very unique system of keeping records of everything. Students can borrow books, movies and other educational materials from there.

Everyone there was very friendly and welcoming.

CAREERS DEPARTMENT

BRITISH UNIVERSITIES FAIR

The Nairobi Academy hosted the British University Fair on 21st January, 2016. 32 UK universities were in attendance. The Fair started at 8.30 am and ended in the early afternoon. This was a great opportunity for students to ask questions on career choices and to get information and knowledge about University choices and different courses on offer. The British Embassy also offered talks on Visa applications. Students had a very interactive session with the delegates. Our school will again be hosting the fair in September 2016. We encourage parents to attend these events in future.

YEAR 9 CAREERS TALK

In week 4, the Careers Department scheduled a crucial talk for year 9 students. This comes at a time when the Year 9 students are contemplating on which subjects to carry on with or drop. This will have a great effect on their career

choices and that’s why the Careers Department in liaison with the Examinations Department offered these talks. We observed that many students are still undecided on what subjects to pursue therefore we encourage you to continue this conversation with your child.

Other talks are on-going for the senior classes. Parents are always welcome.
