Hairsine Community League AGM Meeting Minutes – May 25 th , 2019 Attendance: As per attached sign in sheet 1. Peter called the meeting to order at 6:01pm, and quorum was verified at 25. Peter thanked everyone for taking their time being on the board. In addition, welcoming new and upcoming board members. Les and Peter informed all of the upgrades to hall, in addition to all the events that were held at Hairsine this past year. Upgrades including the finishing of the one outdoor Rink, and the finishing of the LED lighting throughout the building. Events from Community Day, Xmas , Family Day and AGM Spring events. Motion by: Cannot motion the approval of past minutes as they where not available to be read Seconded by: Passed Ed Romijn, Book Keeper, presented the financial report for the year. New fiscal year commenced March 1, 2019. Please see attachment for full report. Overall we are still in the positive and have applied for a couple more grants this year. Jerry asked some questions around the extra funds in the bank and Jaime the treasurer talked about the future plans including looking at getting a large tent for the spring and summer months, the next couple of years a new playground will have to be built. Les talked as well as funding the Rink and events. The talk about a community garden next year as well as a talk about looking at quotes on a hard service for one of the rinks . Mitchell building director talked about getting a portable air conditioner for the upstairs room. Peter Moskaliuk, League President, gave a verbal report. Peter thanked everyone for
coming, He thanked the outgoing members for their contribution. Les, Vice President
gave a verbal thank you for the outgoing President Peter and thanked him for all
dedication over the years and helping keep the Community League Alive.
The following positions were up for election and below are the names that got elected
President 2 year term (nominated by Jason Lane) – Les Barker
Secretary – 2 year term (nominated by Les Barker) – Amanda Fleming
Vice President 1 year term (nominated by Les Barker) - Leesa Lane
Social/programming- 2 year term (nominated by Jamie Montgomery) – April Barker
Sports Director - 2 year term (nominated by Jerry MacLachlan) – Jason Lane
Volunteer – 2 year term (nominated by Les Barker) - Neil McCarthy
Grants & Memberships (nominated by Jason Lane) – 2 year term – John Fleming
Member at large 2 position for 1 year term - Jerry MacLachlan and Travis Thomas
Past President: Peter Moskaliuk
All positions were acclaimed, as only one candidate for each has put their name forward.
Guest Matthew Taylor from Communities United spoke to the group about what they
offer to the community , Talked about incentives from organization and how that works
with the leagues goals as well. Jerry talked about a personal story with working with
community united. Communities United is also involved with the ECDC land
Development
Guest Rebecca Henuset the NRC for Hairsine Community League talked about how the
board is doing great things and working hard for the community. Lots of thankless hard
hours put into the board, and is excited to work with the new board members. Ebbers the
newest community will be targeted in the next couple of months to join Hairsine
Community league.
