IntroductionFamous Quotation: "Don't follow the path. Go where there is no path
and start a trail."Best known for: Being the first
black person to go to an all-
white school.
3 Key Qualities:1. Demonstrated Bravery2. Persevered 3. Showed Compassion and
Empathy
What I find interesting: That she
still went to school.
I chose this person because she
stood up for her rights.

Overcame a Hardship/Challenge
In 1960 white parents would not
send their children to school
with Ruby because of her skin
color. Ruby had to go to school
all by herself with no one to keep
her company. The only person in
her classroom was Mrs.Henry. I think Ruby must have been sad
to walk into the classroom andnot have any children to learn
with and play with, but she
worked well any way, and she
kept on coming to school.

Showed Compassion and Empathy
Ruby showed compassion and
empathy by praying for the people
who said bad things about her.
She prayed to forgive thembecause they yelled at her every
day she went to school because
they did not want to integrate. I think that it was mean thatpeople were threatening to kill
her she is not mean and hurtful,
she's nice and compassionate.

Took Action
When she was six years old she
went to an all-white William
Frantz School in 1960. She was
getting yelled at because the
parents didn't want her there.
She went because a new of
integration occurred. I think people realized that
integration is better than
segregation. People realized that
they were being mean; she was
just a little girl.

Persevered
A judge ordered 4 black girls to
go to an all-white school, but
Ruby did not want to go. She
went anyway. Each day people
yelled at her, called her names,
and threatened her as she walked
into the school. She still kept on
going to school.I think that by continuing to go to
school she persevered because
she could have stopped going.

Impact: How Things are Different Today
Things are different because of
integration and because Ruby
and her parents worked up the
courage to be the only black
child in a white school.I think Ruby Bridges should
not have had to go through all
of this. If it weren't for Ruby
Bridges I might not be able to
go to MCDS.

Communicated and Shared
Today she goes to
schools and speaks to
children all around the
world to share her lifestory. I think that it is good to
talk about what
happened in the past sowe don't do the same in
the future.

Im a Change Maker when I
stand up for someone or
something that has hurt feelingsor is not treated fairly.
Im similar to my Change Makerbecause we are both African
American.
My Change Maker is
connected to Jackie Robinson
because they were both the first
black people to join something
all white.
