Learn. Understand. Integrate.Equinox Counseling & Wellness Center teen groups typically meet once a week over an eight to twelve week period. We teach, guide and support your teen as he or she moves forward with learned skills and applicable strategies. Through a structured process we then help youth to generalize what they have learned to family and peer relationships, daily challenges and temptations, as well as home and community-based environments. WISDOM 5.0Anger and Aggression Management

Wisdom 5.0 is a group for teens with defensive anger, hostile aggression, and other anger management problems. This group is for teens whose anger interferes with clear thinking, being in control of actions, and whose defensive hostility creates relationship and daily functioning problems. Teens learn the interconnected cycle between an angry brain and an angry body. Youth will learn critical phases to handling emotions, skills for well-handled anger, explore the possible causes for problematic anger, learn skills for improved decision-making, and several techniques for building empathy.

RECOVERY THROUGH CLIMBINGThrough indoor rock climbing challenges, teens struggling with substance abuse and relapse prevention problems learn and practice the skills to live substance-free. Teens are presented with individual and group challenges that increase communication, accountability and personal responsibility—and help them become more mindful about planning daily life and making decisions to support a sober lifestyle. In the process, they establish important foundational elements of relapse prevention such as using healthy routines, developing positive support systems, learning to fully commit, assessing risk and making thoughtful decisions.

MOOD MANAGEMENT DBT SKILLS GROUPDialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) addresses mental health issues, such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, addictions, eating disorders, mood disorders, impulse control disorders, personality disorders, and for those with other self-injurious behaviors. Group members will will learn and develop critical skills for mindfulness, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance. This group is for teen girls ages 15-18 years old who have mood swings, difficulty regulating emotions, have low impulse control, have a difficult time interacting with others, anger management problems , and have suicidal or self-harming behaviors.

EQ CHOICES – HIGH RISK TEEN GROUPEQ Choices is a co-ed group for teens ages 14-17 experiencing problems in their relationships and daily life due to high risk and reckless behavior. EQ Choices addresses issues such as emotional outbursts, stealing, drug/alcohol abuse, anger management, illegal behavior, and low impulse control. “Your program is truly amazing. We cannot express to you the gratitude we feel and the appreciation for how you have helped and worked with our son. Our son has never responded to coming to an office and sitting in an office for therapy. Using the experiential approach, and having him out learning skills through adventure activities is what made all the difference. Thank you!” – Parents of a 16-year-old
