“WEST” is not a new technology, it is a transfer of a well known land-based technology (waste-to-energy facility) to the maritime sector.The new patented system that we propose is simply substituting coal with RDF, using a technology that is substantially similar, that in recent years has been constantly evolving, both in quality of combustion and in the ability to treat the fumes.

system fueled by combustibles based on RDF refuse (at zero cost)

instead of traditional fuel with CO2 emissions reduced by 98%

The propulsion system is essentially made up of:

Boiler and grate-type boiler. Other types of boiler are usable, but it is preferable to use a grate-type boiler because it is • more compact; •better combustion control; • the least amount of soot produced; • more reliable.

‣Boiler/thermal cycle: the steam is generated at conditions of compatible temperature with the longest duration of the heat exchangers in the super heater and with good reliability of the thermal cycle. The steam flows within a closed circuit between: • the evaporator-superheater (boiler); • the expander (turbine); • the condenser; • the elevator of pressure (boiler feed pumps).
