Grafton,Hermantoldhisaudiences,has achancetoacknowledgeitsplacein Americanmusichistoryandlettherestof theworldknowaboutarichlegacythat hasbeenoverlookedbythegenera]public fordecades. Herman'swords-whichechoedthe sentimentsofareaeducatorswhoinvited himtoappearlocally-havenotfallenon deafears.SincehisSeptembervisit,a growingnumberofresidentshave embracedthemissionofpublicizing Grafton'smusicalheritage. Theresultoftheireffortsistheforma- tionofgroupsthatareorganizingasum- merbluesfestival,parkhistorydisplays, educationalprogramsandavarietyof otheractivitiestheyhopewillteach, enlightenandentertain.Thecollective goal,volunteerssaid,istopaytributeto theParamountbluesartistsandothermusi- cianswhorecordedfortheformer WisconsinChairCo.'smusicdivision, includingatitsGraftonfactorystudioin the1920sandearly'30s. .'ThefirstParamountBlues"•:,. Headliningthefestival,which runsfromII:30a.m.toIIp.m., willbenationallyknownartists AlbertCummingsandNoraJean Bruso.Theeventwillalsofeature popularlocalbluesmusicians,lec- turesandworkshops,historical exhibits,foodandbeveragestands andotheranractions.
