NEW CLASS! PUPPETEERING WORKSHOP SERIES Instructor: Tricia Mucklow Ages: 10-14 Do you love puppets? In this workshop series, student will explore the creative and imaginative world of puppetry. Each workshop will focus on a new puppet design and students will create their own expressive puppet with arts and craft materials and found objects. FINGER PUPPETS- Saturday, March 16th 9:00-11:30am, $25/$10- $35 SOCK PUPPETS- Saturday, April 27th 9:00-11:30am, $25/$10- $35 MARIONETTE PUPPETS- Saturday,May 11th 9:00-11:30am, $25/$10- $35

ART WITH A PURPOSE (NEW CLASS) Instructor: Chrissy O’Shea Thursdays, MARCH 14 (off MARCH 28th)-APRIL 11th 4:30-5:30pm Ages:10-14 (flexible) Students will create and sell artwork to benefit humanitarian projects, such as Empty Bowls and Shells for N.J. Shores. Students will have a hands-on experience using art to benefit our community and creating awareness to these causes. Learning how to communicate important message in their artwork, enhancing art skills, and learning how to give back are things your child will take away from this class. Work will be displayed at the Oswego Business Expo and the Aurora Green Lights. $60/$15=$75 EXPLORING CREATIVE ILLUSTRATION- COMICS & MANGA (NEW CURRICULUM) Instructor: Adam Bedore Thursdays, MARCH 14 (off MARCH 28th)-APRIL 18th/ 6:00-7:00pm Ages: 7 and up Explore your illustration imagination with Comics and Manga. Our instructor, Adam Bedore, works in the Illustration, Design and Video Game markets. So your child will be getting highly qualified and personalized instruction from someone in the field! The instructor will guide students through fun projects and activities designed to develop their imagination. The curriculum will be accommodating for ages 7 through high school level. This class will focus on the stu-dent developing their own creative Comics and Manga drawing style, while also improving their techniques and skills. NOTE: If your child has taken this class before, further exploration will include the incorporation of inking and coloring their drawings and advanced tech-niques and skills. $60/$10=$70

CREATIVE CONNECTIONS Instructor: Cheryl Ziegler Saturdays, MARCH 23rd (off MARCH 30th)-MAY 18th / 12:30-1:45pm Ages:11-14 …..always new lessons every quarter! This spring quarter session will focus on drawing and painting technique, composition and design, while using a variety of art materials. We will be taking our inspiration from various contemporary artists. Our final class features an art show of all student works for family and friends. $115/$30=$145 Mrs. Z’s WACKY WORLD OF ART I Instructor: Cheryl Ziegler Saturdays, MARCH 23rd (off MARCH 30th)-MAY 18th / 2:00-3:00pm Ages:5-7 …...always new lessons each quarter! This session will explore the art of many cultures and their unique techniques. Students will learn composition and design skills while using a variety of art materials. Our final class features an art show of all student works for family and friends. $110/$25= $135 Mrs. Z’s WACKY WORLD OF ART II Instructor: Cheryl Ziegler Saturdays, MARCH 23rd (off MARCH 30th)-MAY 18th/3:30-4:30pm Ages:8-10 Always new lessons each quarter! This session will once again explore the art of many cultures and their unique techniques. Students will learn composition and design skills while using a variety of art materials. CERAMICS- HAND BUILDING with CLAY Instructor: Tricia Mucklow Mondays, APRIL 1-29th Ages 5-7: 4:30-5:30pm Ages 8-10: 5:45- 6:45pm Students will learn the basics of hand building clay construction. Techniques such as pinch pots, coiling, slab building, additive and subtractive methods will be explored. Students will also get the opportunity to glaze and paint their clay sculptures. Some sculptures will need to be picked up after conclusion of class. $70/$25=$95 CERAMICS - HAND BUILDING with CLAY Instructor: Heidi Miller Fridays, APRIL 5-MAY 3rd

Ages 11-14: 4:30-5:30pm Students earn advanced techniques of hand building clay construction. Basic techniques such as pinch pots, coiling, slab building, additive and subtractive methods will be combined with creative designs and complex building. Students will also get the opportunity to glaze and paint their clay sculptures. Some sculptures will need to be picked up after conclusion of class. $70/$25=$95

REDUCE. REUSE. RECYCLE- “GREEN” ART Instructor: Heidi Miller Ages: 7-14 Sundays, APRIL 7-28th/12:00-1:00pm If your child loves the environment and art, this is the perfect class for them! Students will learn how to take everyday objects, recycled materials, and combine them with art and design to create beautiful works of art! A special Earth Day project will also be created. This class will expand your child’s creativity and critical thinking skills, while showing their appreciation for the environment. Artwork will be on display at the Aurora Green Lights art show in June. $65/$15=$80 PASTELS in the SPRING Instructor: Heidi Miller Ages:8-13 Sundays, APRIL 7-28th/1:30-2:30pm Blooming flowers, buzzing bugs & butterflies are some of the things students will explore in this spring themed pastel class. Students will be introduced to the many uses and techniques of oil and chalk pastels. Enjoy the vibrant colors this art material provides in creating spring inspired art pieces. $75 /$10 = $85 MOTHER’S DAY CLAY WORKSHOP Instructor: Heidi Miller Saturday, APRIL 13th/9:30-11:30am All Ages Surprise mom or grandma this year with a hand-crafted gift! Students will create a special keepsake for their loving mothers using clay. The clay will be glazed during the class. Gifts will be picked up after the class once ready. $25/$10=$35

DRAWING I Instructor: Sandy Lowder Tuesdays, APRIL 9-APRIL 30th (4 weeks) Ages 6-14:4:30-5:30pm This basic drawing class will accommodate a range of ages by developing projects and curriculum to fit the needs and strengths of individual artists. Focus will be on the fundamentals and techniques of drawing, including line, shape, form, value and shading. Students will experiment with a variety of pencil types while learning and observing the varied effects the different pencils can create. $50/$8= $58 BEAUTIFUL BEADS- JEWELRY MAKING Instructor: Chrissy O’Shea Ages: 8-13 Tuesdays, APRIL 9-30th/ 6:00-7:00pm In this beginner’s jewelry making class, students will learn basic bead making and jewelry assemblage techniques. We will create pretty paper and polymer clay beads. Students will then assemble their handmade beads into bracelets and necklaces. $60/$15= $75 INTRODUCTION TO ACRYLICS Instructor: Chrissy O’Shea Thursdays, APRIL 18-MAY 16th /4:30-5:30pm Ages:10 –14 (flexible) Students will learn about different techniques to create an acrylic painting. They will learn how to mix different mediums and colors, draw from a still life and also from an image. Students will have a completed canvas painting at the conclusion of the class. $65/$20= $85

Fundamental skills (cutting, gluing, drawing, painting, constructing and printing) will be taught and reinforced, helping to develop fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination and imagination! Projects will be created, presented and adapted for the children to meet the individual needs of each student. Completed projects will be displayed. $80/$20= $100 ALL NEW LESSONS! DUCT TAPE ART Instructor: Meghan Gatenby Fridays, MAY 10-31st/5:00-6:30pm Ages: 8-13 Lots of new projects this quarter! Learn the fundamentals of working with the bizarre medium of duct tape. Students will learn how to create gifts and garb and make inventive projects in this class. They will learn to make fabric that really sticks and draw imagery with exacto knives. At the end of the session students will walk away with four great projects! Some duct tape provided with additional tape available for purchase. Two rolls of solid colored duct tape provided to each student. Three additional rolls should be purchased and brought in by student for the projects. $65 /$10 = $75 NOTE: Two rolls provided. Three additional rolls should be brought in by student. PRIVATE MUSIC INSTRUCTION Private music instruction is available for beginner to advanced levels of study, for students ages preschool through adult. Our music program provides private instruction sessions in:

Music enrollment includes evaluations, participation in group performances, and community service opportunities through music performing. Private lesson tuition is $26 for each 30-minute session, $39 for each 45-minute session, and $52 for each 60-minute session, billed on a quarterly basis. A tuition discount of $6.00 per hour is available for members of the Oswego Family YMCA, and for families enrolled in four or more music lessons. A 5% military discount is also available. CHILDREN’s MUSIC CLASSES

classes for infants through toddlersclasses for infants through toddlersclasses for infants through toddlersclasses for infants through toddlers "Sing to me" is a new class for parents and their infants-toddlers. The class focuses on exposing infants and toddlers to the joy of music making through the community formed by the parents who attend. Participants will learn different songs and rhymes with accompanying movements to play with their child. The class emphasizes the importance of parent/child interaction and the important role music plays in early chi ld development. No musical background is needed to attend. Since the class is just as much for the parent (or grandparent or friend) who accompanies the child, pregnant women are also welcome to attend the class. 10 week sessions; Tuition: $130 MY FIRST PIANO ADVENTURE (Piano Preparatory Course for Ages 3-5) Our piano prepara-tory course is a semi-private class using the materials from the popular My First Piano Adventure (Faber and Faber) piano series. “Adventure” teachers the fundamentals of piano playing in a fun group setting, helping students develop music basics in preparation for one-on-one private lessons. 30-minute classes; call for availability 10 week sessions; Tuition: $130

THEORY CLASSES Comprehensive theory program from early childhood through adult Fox River Academy Theory Classes are available for both Academy and non-Academy students wishing to supplement their musical education. Classes are des igned to r e in fo r ce s tuden ts ’ understanding on theory concepts learned in pr ivate lessons, in a fun and comfortable group setting. Pre-college classes focus on advanced concepts of ear training and key systems, chord theory, style, and analysis. The Fox River Academy theory program corresponds with the Royal Conservatory Music Development Program. Theory Assessment guidelines and materials are incorporated directly into our level system, enabling our theory students to participate in national Theory Assessment Testing.

Fundamental Theory Primer Level , Level 1 through Level 4 (beginning rhythm, music concepts, solfege, note reading reinforcement, symbols/terms, intervallic reading, ear training, key signatures, circle of 5ths, transposition) Pre-College Theory Level 5 through Level 8 (ear-training, form and analysis, chord theory, harmony, sight-singing, pitch/ rhythmic dictation, solfeggio)

The Fox River Academy of Music and Art is located in Oswego, Illinois (near Yorkville, Montgomery, Plainfield, Aurora, and Naperville). Since 2003, we have encouraged arts appreciation through experience in p r i v a te and group study, p e r f o r m a n c e participation in
