What is DAM?

Digital Asset Management (DAM) consists of tasks and decisions surrounding ingesting, annotating, cataloguing, storage and retrieval of digital assets, such as digital photographs, animations, videos and music.

Digital asset management systems are computer software and/or hardware systems that aid in the process of digital asset management. (Wikipedia)

Why do we need DMA?

The world’s need for digital storage will grow by 1000% from 2006 to 2011. (”The Expanding Digital Universe”, IDC)

Up to 30% of an employee’s time is spent searching for or re-inputting data that is already located within the enterprise. (“Enterprise Content Management Selection Guide”, Daniel Figueiredo)

90% of all marketing material is never put to use because it is not relevant or out-of-date. To Fortune 100 companies this represents a waste of $300 billion each year. (“Driving profitable growth through marketing asset management”, Accenture)

A high-tech company with 1 000 employees risk losing EUR 4 million per year by not finding what they are searching for. (”The Expanding Digital Universe”, IDC)
