My journey started at Child Development Inc. in December 1992, as a teacher at the Pottsville Center. I was so excited to start my new job. Not knowing much about Child Development, I quickly learned how important the program is for many families here in the county. It is an extended family for the families we serve and for the staff who work here.
In July of 1999, I married my high school sweetheart. We began our own family in August 2001, when our first son, Gage
.
With the support from the staff at Child Development, I knew our son would get the care he needed and much more. The staff cared for Gage just like his parents did. They knew his wants and needs. When Gage left Child Development to enter
Both boys are doing well in school. My husband and I are very involved in their lives. But without the support and early education they received from their Child Development family, we do not think they would be where they are at today.
I continue to teach at the Pottsville Center as a Head Start Teacher. Last December, I celebrated 20 years of teaching at Child Development. I am glad I am able to teach and touch so many lives. We are an extended family and each child and family holds a special place in my heart ?as I hope I do in theirs.
