Trivia Questions

Hey everyone, The school year of 2012-2013 is finally drawing to a close and students are preparing to relax and kick off to a great summer. Summer not only provides a long deserved break from studies, but also an amazing opportunity to get some service in! I’m sure our Project Heads Jenny Xue and Lauren Yee will be finding many more interesting and fun events for you to attend soon. Since the school year can be really hectic, doing community ser-vice during the summer can diminish the pressure of completing your hours during the year. On that note, I hope many of you can attend the recycling sorting party on June 2nd. We need all the help we can get. If you do attend, see you there! Sharon Hsu

Paper cranes in an array of colors hung from the tent that Key Clubbers were working at. At the Pacific Rim Street Festival, Key Clubbers taught children and adults alike how to fold paper peace cranes. Freshman Eileen Eto described the event and said, “The Pacific Rim Festival was a fun and new experience for me and it allowed me to teach people of all ages to learn how to fold cranes. It made me realize that crane folding may not seem all that easy to everyone but that origami really is a cool thing cause everyone was proud of how their cranes turned out in the end, no matter how deformed or awkward their cranes looked.”

Franklin Key Clubbers, other Division 7 South members, friends, and family attended Franklin Key Club’s Pink-berry Fundraiser on May 16th. Heading to the frozen

yogurt place after school, students and their families enjoyed cool, delicious frozen yogurt with their choice of toppings, while having a chance to hang out. Thanks to the people who went to the event, Franklin Key Club was able to raise $88.14 to support our club and Project Eliminate!

“These past 4 years were definitely the best. From waking up at 5:00 AM to do community service to out-cheering other divisions in spirit battles, I enjoyed every single moment Key Club had to offer. Key Club is more than a simple organization, it is a family. I would like to thank everyone who made this experi-ence so amazing.” — Dorian Chen

“Volunteering has been great all these years because of the enthusiasm and helpfulness of those who vol-unteered their time to help. I will miss Key Club for the everlasting memories or laughter, teamwork, and sense of family.” — Anvi Nguyen

“Sometimes, it feels like it was just yesterday where Megan Shimada told me about Key Club and when Crestley Wong personally handed me an application to join. Since then, so much has changed, so many new faces, new places, and new experiences, so much has changed that it feels like I'm remembering someone else's memories. Thank you for all that you do and continue to do, youngsters.” — Gary Meng

“I'll miss my friends, serving the community, and the spirit my club brings to our division.” — Curtis Lo

“One thing I'll certainly miss is the various tasks that serve the community--they all tie back to engineering and problem solving. When I attend recycling, I experiment whether using the hands to smash the bottles and bag it at the same time, or first brute force stomping, optimizes production.” — Andrew Fong

“Key Club has inspired me to take action and grow for the sake of the community. I will sincerely miss being a part of this powerful organization, and I hope it will continue being a strong force driving Frank-lin, Elk Grove and beyond.” — Sharon Wong

“Key Club was fun and I'll miss volunteering with my friends.” — Zach Groves

“I'm going to miss seeing the beautiful faces of people that are wholeheartedly committed to doing com-munity service simply because it helps others.” — Alvin Tai

"I am glad I had the opportunity to be involved with Key Club, first and foremost, as a member for the past four years. I have been able to serve the community in so many ways and I am grateful for the memo-ries and the laughter. To the club: make the most of your high school career and get involved in the com-munity because you will change lives and your life will be changed." — Betty Li
