Reliability, validity, and readability levels of all passages have been investigated and reported in the QRI technical development section on the inventory (Leslies & Caldwell, 2000). All control and treatment students at the middle and high school level were administered the Cloze Assessment, developed from passages in the QRI. Elementary students were given the full battery of the QRI. Elementary students were given the whole battery of the QRI. Phase I was a replication and expansion of the pilot study to 3 districts and 6 sites. Phase II ended in May. Its goal was exploratory, investigating: Slide 15 Elementary School Results (two elementary schools) Post-Test Pre-Test Control Group Treatment Group 1.45 Grade Level Improvement Slide 16 Comprehension Mean Scores Slide 17 Word Recognition Mean Scores Slide 18 Spring Semester 06 A teacher felt guilty about the control kids.
