This space has just a pop of color to contrast the all white room. Even with no artwork on thewalls the architecture helps fill the space and give the room definition. The curvilinear designof this space helps create a flow through the room. The modern design of the fireplace alongwith the color gives the space visual weight. The large windows on the wall also let in a lot of

natural light to brighten this space up.

Page 4: Final

This space has a very natural and organic feel. The wood through out the room creates texturethrough the entire space. The large open walls lets you see the beautiful scenery outside whilestill being comfortable on your couch. The tan couch compliments the wood colors so it doesnot stand out against the natural background. The lines created by the wood planks and the

wicker couch keep the eye interested with them all flowing different directions.

Page 5: Final

The centered bed and windows give the room a very balanced feeling. The symmetrical nightstands and space on each side of the bed add to the effect. The lack of pattern in the bedroomhelps your mind rest and ensures you will be able to sleep well. The raised floor under the bed

helps create emphasis on that portion of the room making it the focal point. There is also anatural feel in this room with the wood and natural light being let in. The overall feeling in

this room is very calming and the hidden closet on the wall shows that there is a lot of storageroom, but it is hidden so it keeps the space clean.

Page 6: Final

This room has a rectilinear feel. The walls, ceiling, and couch creates multiple angulardesigns. The stone walls create pattern and texture through out the space. This space is

enclosed with a little window to the outside for when someone wants to feel secluded andcomfortable with a bookshelf full of books and CDs to snuggle up on the couch.

Page 7: Final

This room is created on a radial balance instead of the average linear design. This circulardesign feels perfect when you want to cozy up in a chair and read. The chair and design arevery modern and welcoming. The many small windows let in enough light so there does not

have to be a lot of artificial lighting even to read. The multiple levels created by the stairs helpcontinue the circular rhythum by creating more circles.

This designer board focus’s on color and pattern more than the furniture and layout of thespace. This board was created in an asymmetrical manner with larger pictures on one halfthan the other half. The solid background color helps keep the presentation focused on the

examples on the board. Many of the designs in this board are tactile and are visuallyinteresting.

Page 9: Final

In this board the voids betweenpictures are filled with

descriptions instead of emptyspace. The proportions of thedrawings are consistent withthe size of the desk pictures.

This board is drawn to scale toshow the client what all thedifferent elements will look

like when all together with thecolors around the edge so thecolor can be pictured as well.

The symmetrical design drawsyour attention to the area

where the focal point will be amirror or picture.

Page 10: Final

This designer board takesadvantage of the use of 3Dexamples to show form to

help the customer visualizethe space and not just see the

shape of the design. Thedrawing helps show how the

colors and furniture cometogether in harmony to createa pleasing visual experience.

The colors work well togetherand is engaging to the viewer. The pastels are a good choicebecause they add color without being to overpoweringand bright. The cushionychair and bench look very

welcoming after a long day.The use of the extra space inthe room to make a seating

area is very creative andmakes the most out of the

space.

This design board shows how to fit an entire presentation of an office space all on a board. Itwas able to show the layout of the space and how each room would be set up. The patterns are

laid out so you can picture them in the room. The type of furniture is pictured so you canvisualize yourself in the office. Some rooms are symmetrical while some are asymmetrical so

not all of the offices in the space look the same but so they can feel individualized.

Page 12: Final

This board uses a lot of design and color to attract your attention. The way the patterns wereincorporated into the board as pieces of the background is very creative. The designer also usesa few geometric designs like the wall of colorful circles and the repeated use of the rectangular

picture frames. The patterns and contrasting colors work well together in this design.

Class CritiqueTypes of Assignments: I liked the variation of assignments and not having a quiz every week. It kept

the class interesting.

Instructions & Communication: The instructions were easy to understand and when I did have anyquestions my emails were answered very quickly so I could finish the assignment.

Amount of Work Due Each Week: It was just the right amount so I could focus on the projects insteadof rushing through each one to finish all my work on time.

2 Favorite Assignments: The design tour and actually getting to design my own space.

2 Least Favorite Assignments: Most of the quizzes were okay there was just a few with questions I justcould not find the answer to no matter how long I looked. Overall there was no specific assignmentI did not really like though.

What I Have Learned: I have learned a lot about what goes into designing a space and what workstogether well to create the effect you want.

Classroom Setting: This is a visual class so I think a class setting would have been nice but it waspresented very well for online and I did not feel anything got left out versus actually sitting inclass.

Negatives and Positives: Online due times are always a plus. The online videos were also very helpfulwhen I was not sure what exactly I was doing I was able to have a visual.

Videos/CD: Yes they were very helpful when I couldn’t picture what the directions said.

Why Did I Take This Class: It was online and I am interested in interior design so it gave me a tastewhich hopefully I can follow in the future when the right courses are available to me.

First Online Class: No, most of my classes I take are online.

Major: So far haven’t decided on a final major just taking care of my general ed. classes.

ID Degree: Yes, if the right ones are available and I can fit them into my work/school schedule.
