OBJECTIVE This material is able to use in kindergarten and 1st grade of elementary school. The children will be able to express the numbers with a song. (In this case, the song is “monkeys jumping on the bed”).

MATERIAL A big piece of felt in any color (surface) 1/4mt brown felt (monkeys) Small pieces of felt in different colors Scissors Plastic paint Silicone White sheets Markers Card stock Wiggled eyes

PROCEDURE 1. We made the patterns of the figures: mom monkey, doctor monkey and a little

monkey. You can make your own designs or you can use the same patterns that we include at the end of the document.

2. Cut the patterns and trace each one on brown felt, remember that you need to make five little monkeys so trace five of this pattern.

3. Trace and cut some accessories to decorate the monkeys with the different colors of felt, for example a red dress for the mom or a doctor’s gown with white felt.

4. Also with a lighter color, you can make the faces. When you have all these pieces, you are going to stick it with silicone. Then stick the wiggled eyes on the faces and draw the smiles with plastic paint.

5. If you have ready the monkeys, is time to make a bed, with another color of felt draw a rectangle and cut it. Decorate it with some small pillows.

6. To make the surface you are going to cover the card stock with the big piece of felt sticking with silicone.

COMPETENCES

As teacher, you will be able to create your own material to teach a song in a practical way as the felt board is. With this useful material will be easier to teach numbers with a song and for the kids will be funny to learn it.

CONCLUTIONWe decide to make a tutorial of a felt board, because the felt is a material easy to get and easy to handle. Also is easy to use in classroom because you can stick felt images on felt surface with out glue. We think it was a good idea to create a felt board to teach a sing about monkeys and numbers.

INDIVIDUAL CONCLUTIONSCristina: The felt is a very useful material, and is easy to handle. You can create any figure so you can teach whatever you want with a felt board in a funny way. I really enjoyed making our felt board about these funny little monkeys.Nadia: When you are teaching children, you need different methods to get their attention, so with colorful felt board you can do it. Also is easy to make and it can have your spark.Alondra: You can make a very nice felt board using your creativity. Is easy to do it because the material is cheap and easy to get, also if you enjoy making crafts you will love it.Alma: We made this felt board to sing “monkeys jumping on the bed”, but you can make one with any topic, story or song that you want.Luis: The children will enjoy learning a new song in English, so if you need to teach in a practical and easy way try to make a felt board.
