    Give yourself a fair chance

Tips on how to make the most of the Fair

The Fair is a good place to get a feel of what the

job market is like at the moment. Even if you are

still uncertain about the direction in which you

want to go or do not feel hugely interested in the

companies present, attendance is still worthwhile

since it is an opportunity to talk to the company

reps who will be successful graduates themselves.

This is a great opportunity to nd out about their

experience of job hunting. Furthermore you may

nd that a company that did not immediately spark

your interest actually turns out to be your ideal.

The Fair is an opportunity to network and gain

inside information. It is always a good idea to do a

little background research, take a look at web sites,

this will enable you to ask informed questions.

Whilst there is only an outside chance that the

recruiter will remember you, should you apply, you

will be able to pick up tips about the company

    culture and selection procedures

Dont be afraid to ask probing questions, getting a

good insight into the company will help you in the

    application process.

Dont be afraid to ask for the names of the

representatives, you never know when you may

want to contact them. Furthermore if you do get to

the interview stage it would be an impressive line if

you could say when I was speaking to at our

    Careers Fair!

Finally whilst you would not be expected to wearyour interview suit to the Fair it is a good idea not

    to be too scruffy.
